How to move with mortar and mg?

Small units abandon their mortar and now their machine gun.
They have a new specification.
What does that mean ?

They're not allowed to move anymore? They're all losing their equipment.

Screenshots please. Occasionally heavy weapons would be lost glitching with the terrain.

She dropped the machine gun while running to the scene. They also abandoned a light mortar.
Nobody did anything to them.

Did the heavy weapon teams take some casualty on their way? Some days earlier I saw sPzB teams immediately abandon their 2.8cm sPzB41 after a single casualty.

If no, then it's most likely a terrain glitch when deploying the weapons. Weapons might be flipped and lost when deploying on rough terrains.

It's one of those "it depends" answers.

Ask an exhausted weapon team to lug it's equipment over rough terrain under heavy fire and the instances of abandoned equipment will go up.

Ask a rested weapon team to move over gentle terrain free from enemy observation and rarely will any equipment will be lost. They will sometimes, even return to collect and repair abandoned equipment.

For the last year or so this has been happening in 100% small support units of up to 3 men. Always with a small machine gun and mortar. Never happened before. Now there is a percentage set at 100%.
I even let them stand in place after the game starts. So they don't take part in any attacks.
Only then were they to reach the conquered territory.
They came without equipment.
So it's another new bug in the game.
This happens all the time now. They weren't even under fire or attacked.
They arrived at the scene with no equipment. They walked about 500 meters.

Maybe I am off, but I don't think there are 3-men teams for heavy infantry weapons? Either a battalion mortar or an HMG would have 4-6 people teams. So if you do have a three-men team and they do "lose" their heavy they must be starting with reduced personnel and suffer from what @Battleshipfree99 described.
Unless you are looking at a company mortar team, but that isn't modeled as a heavy weapon, so you won't get "The unit abandoned its heavy weapons" message

Seems that all heavy weapons that can be break down into parts need a 3 men team at least (whether 2 parts like HMG or 3 parts like medium mortars/sPzB41 leFI41).

Heavy weapons that have can't break down into parts only need a 2 men team to operate/push (including guns that normally need a team of 3~5 men to push).

These are small support teams called support platoons.
Add a sniper or artillery spotter to your platoon. Or add a light machine gun or a small mortar.
So they got the weapon and they had it in their hands.

I have been reporting this bug with these small support units for a year now. They always 100% abandon their equipment. 100% of the support platoons added as support will do it.

There may be some misunderstanding here, company mortar cannot be “lost” in the same way a battalion mortar or any other heavy weapon can be lost. You have to check the list of weapons (hover over the ammo icon in the left-hand panel)

As we've already written. it's just a bug in the game. All support replenished units in every game always 100% discard their weapons. In every game.

In this case, all 3 units at once.

Can you please post a screenshot, where the tooltip from the ammunition icon is visible, so we can check out the weapons list? We can then see whether mortar is there or not. It’s possible they have it, but don’t deploy it.

Ok, thanks for posting the screenshots. These are not three-men company mortar teams, so they can in fact lose the heavy weapon. It does happen when they try to set it up on an uneven surface: https://steamcommunity.com/app/312980/discussions/0/3784750482945582669/ It is obviously a funny game mechanics. Not sure if noticed that happening more lately.
