Combat Mission is better.
While i enjoy the operational aspect of the game.
It utterly falls flat on its face when trying to do tactics and the core gameplay just revolves around a series of attack-moves. You literally can win battles with just superior positioning and never make 1 command. AI just sends waves. I've owned this game for almost a decade so please don't act like you dont know what im talking about. Get combat mission and play a real mans wargame.

Don't agree at all from my experience.

I own all the DLC for Mius-front, Tunisa 1943, and Operation Star. I own all the CM2 games and modules except for Cold War, and all their CM1 series. Cold War is the only one that is just not interesting to me.

I enjoy both products for what each can bring for simulation and fun. They are both equally good as both have their own unique positives and negatives.

To each their own.

PS: the vast majority of the players of this game probably own at least one CM game already.

CM FANBOYS SEETHING, NOT BEING ABLE TO COMPREHAND THE GRAVITEAM. both on online forums and image boards CM BOYS flat out cannot handle the supiriority of the graviteam, lash out and think they can sway anyone who has played and bought all possible dlcs....... GO HOME CM HOMIES....

I have several. I like them. Lots of vehicles and equipment. There's no sign of human behavior.
But it's machine-accurate, yes.
It's almost unplayable. You come out and they'll take you down. The map is as big as my kitchen.
Animations are antediluvian dummies.

I like the creators and the community. They're good. I also like the graphic mods.

But driving each unit manually is absolutely exhausting. Infantry isn't funny at all.

GTMT infantry She is foolishly bold and mocking towards the enemy. It also has much more detailed graphics. Plus, he often can't see anything from the bushes where he's hiding.

Combat Mission is a good tactical simulator and a piss-poor strategic one. Someone went to all that effort to put together an in-depth simulator with carefully modelled vehicles, weapons, ranges and penetration manuals, then handed the mission design over to a 90s Command and Conquer fan.

Every single mission in the game involves a beefed-up Platoon taking on a Company-minus force on a prepared position within an arbitrary time limit. If any real Staff Officer proposed something like that in his plan, he'd be cashiered on the spot.

Yes, playing what is enjoyable personally is best. With this in mind nobody would have needed to post here because the starting post clearly is not meant to start an objective discussion about game qualities :) But the post with its a bit special phrasing was bound to get some responses I guess. A prime example of an unnecessary statement.

With that said I can also add something unnecessary here and be my own personal hypocrite (which is always fun) and say that Combat Mission is not my type of game. I would not be able to stand all the micromanaging and "handholding" anymore. Also from what I have read of the mission design (if it is really that unconvincing, I do not own any CM stuff) sounds like an arcade type game which forces you to try and beat way superior forces (heavily scripted) whith what would have been a suicide commando in reality all the time by failing, reloading and trying again. This kind of "tactics" then would serve to cover up for a probably not existing AI... .

No offense here, such games can be good and enjoyable in their own right, but GT games and CM have widely differing goals and scopes then (if my imagined version of CM holds true, might have been too harsh there). Many may like both, but others will certainly not. That is all.

How do I say this without coming across as crass?

Combat Mission sucks dog ♥♥♥♥♥ for quarters.

Good day.

Can't I just play both?
The two games are very different. There is stuff to enjoy in both which is very dependent on the player himself.

The only thing I will say is I think Graviteam are better programmers? Why?

* BFC takes years to patch. GT is perhaps 1-2 months per patch.

* The level or calculation and graphics achieved by GT is perhaps 2X-3X on the same hardware. I don't know GT's programming background, but after talking to Andrey, I believe he is old school where hardware was expensive and programmers cheap. I think this is his programming style.

But as for my library, I want both series, and I don't really see them as close competitors, but very distant competitors. As illustrated by this thread ... most just don't get either CM or GT's model for combat.

pretty much this i like combat misssions approach to units but the game is so archaic and sluggish graviteam is great but its potential is undermined by it being very niche genre i just wish some billionaire could support them and we could see operation as detailed as AAA games are cause i absolutely adore this franchise
Both are niches, but we are lucky they support their teams financially and are not sold off to AAA studios who would clearly destroy what we love about their games.

The point of the thread? It's a dumb, low effort troll trying to rustle jimmies.

He should cope given that the audience here isn't going to stoop to his level of sophomoric stupidity.

Cutthroat fandom in the highly competitive market of...... super niche wargames? Xbox and playstation fans fighting I can understand but this is like two people fighting over a carpark in an empty lot.
