This is a player who "controls" Stugs (not AI) and spamming them with strange orders with terrible force.
The AI controls the tanks and it clearly wins.
Or do you mean that the AI seeing what a player is doing should have taken control of Stugs from the player?
Yes, that would be great, but unfortunately so far the robots do not buy our games, and we have to allow people to play the game.
But still it wonders me, why the StuGs prefer infantry as targets, when they have tanks in front.
If I understand you correct, it`s the weirdness of the player in this case
But seriously, you need to remember:
1) units have no telepathy or predictions
2) they see only what is visible from THEIR OWN observation devices, and not what the player sees
3) they do not change targets every second
4) they see in a narrow sector
And of course:
5) to leave the board to standing tanks at a distance of 100 meters is not the best idea
6) to attack so that the enemy will be at a very close distance at once from two different sides is not the best idea
7) spamming individual units with strange orders if something went wrong - an even worse idea
8) to attack with Stugs without infantry support is also not a very good idea.
AI can not help if you are doing something from this list.
P.S. Why is the name of this video so strange
The infantry it sees and knows about it, and infantry is in close proximity to the Stug from a dangerous direction. About the tanks, it does not know and does not see.
The one Stug that went first (and saw the tanks), got a shell into the board and can no longer turn anywhere.
From what considerations should Stug choose tanks, not infantry?
If you really want the unit to forget the old target (which it does not see clearly), there is a special button at the bottom left, you can press it.
1,2,3,4) Lof and Los where clear in the direction of enemy tanks
5,6,7,8) I said he doesn`t use good tactics already 2x
What the heck do I have in common with the youtuber`s chosen video name?
From what considerations should Stug choose tanks, not infantry?
Because this StuG is a tank destroyer... There are many versions, but this one is a clear TD.
Also it has a MG...It was a Mg 34, inside and loose, but could be mounted on top of the opened hatch at the top.
For one Stug, which was the farthest, it actually turned to the tanks. But since it left 1 to 5, was naturally shot down. The one (the topmost) that was shooting at the infantry, was behind the trees from the tanks, and clearly did not see them. And when I saw it started shooting at them.
Just in case, that the presence of LOS and LOF does not mean that the target is visible and will be shot at. This only means that there are NO OBSTACLES to the passage of light from the target and the projectile to the target, for LOS and LOF, respectively.
Units like in real life look through sights, which the Stug has a little, and with a narrow sector of view.
As a supporting role, and it is definitely not a destroyer of invisible tanks
In order to start shooting at the tanks, it has to see them, I guarantee you unequivocally.
And another 4 people inside who can get out and act like infantry. But let's not bring everything to the point of absurdity.
I think it is absolutely clear here why the Stug first shoots infantry, and then switches to tanks.
The unit will remember about past enemies, as they are recognized, evaluated and it already sees them. And they will shoot at them too. And do not wonder, maybe somewhere here someone else will be.
Then tanks shoot at them....
Still the StuG extra turned around, openind the wear rear to enemy tanks. to shoot at infantry
But I would think a TD should target a tank in front, in Lof and Los at first....
There was clearly no obstacle between the TD`s and the tanks...
The TD`s where partly in perfect hidden position at the wood edge...
Where do you see this?
Stug who turned (the farthest from tanks), did it after it was shot down, and turned, obviously, not to shoot at the infantry, but because the caterpillar was broken.
TLDR that happens because they have limited view sectors. All you can do is try to avoid close combat with the tanks IF you dont want to see unexpected results.
You could of course over micro them and turn them towards the threat but that is honestly gamey and cheesy. Your commander spirit talks to the tank and orders them to turn towards the threat that they did not expect themselves. That is divine intervention as a matter of fact.
But if it gets shot at, it should turn around to see, who shoots?
