game not working

when i push play it wont open the game how do i fix this? i have window 8

Same thing happened to me a while ago.
I did launch the game, played a bit and quit. Then i was like "Hmm, should i try it with an Xbox controller?". I did turn it on and... game doesn't work. And after gamepad turned itself off - game all of sudden started to work again lol.
So recipe is: disconnect all the gamepads (physically). Even wireless "adapters" for the gamepads. Just make sure there's no gamepads in the device list.
