Black Screen or Call Stack Error

Some of you are experiencing a black screen at startup or a call stack error. We are unable to reproduce this issue in-house so WE NEED YOUR HELP. First off make sure the game has been updated through Steam. 2nd, make sure you ping our support team at support.aspyr.com and send them your DXDiag and any other system info you have. Thus far we have only 6 support requests, but there are at least 2 dozen of you just on this forum seeing this issue.

There has to be some common denomenator with those experiencing the issue, and we need data in order to find it. It could be ANYTHING causing this issue...software, hardware, file structure, firewall configuration, GPU driver...ANYTHING.

Please ping our support team with as many details as possible if you are experiencing this issue. We cant fix what we cant see.

UPDATE 02/12: We finally replicated the issue in QA today.

It's appears to be related to the .ini file missing/corrupted from game's folder. This could be caused by the ini files being altered in some way, either manually or somehow a problem in the launching process and the Steam overlay.

Our current workaround:

Right click Fahrenheit from the Steam Library menu and select Properties. Under the Local Files tab, select Browse Local Files. Delete the Fahrenheit.ini file then verify the game cache integrity.

To do that, right click (ctrl+click) Fahrenheit: IPR from the Steam Library menu and select Properties. Under the Local Files tab, select Verify Integrity of Game Cache. Once that completes, relaunch the game.​

Please report back here with results!

If this does not work for you, its then very likey that something else is altering your INI files (assuming that you havent altered them yourself). This could be ANY other program installed on your comp, so please give us as much data as possible so that we can find the common denominator.

im still having the black screen/call stack error have had it since i got the game almost a year ago have not been able to play it since i bought it

i seen theres some kind of driver in the folder for the game i was wondering if those are the issue as they are not sighend drivers windows wont install them or allow them to install without disabling driver sighning witch i have not done yet.

also those same driver files were updated with this latest patch what in the world are they never seen a game need drivers before

I'm getting both issues (Call stack and black screen).
Have tried
Disabling second monitor.
Turning steam overlay off.
Turning raptr and play.tv off and shutting down their processes.
Removing .ini and revalidating(they are the same)
Tried full and windowed mode.
Tried unistalling all my AMD drivers, cleaning and reinstalling newest crimson edition drivers(16.5.2.1)

Still no luck.

Bought the game today and installed it, set the game to run to fullscreen, got a black screen - waving mouse around made sounds.
Closed the game, deleted the .ini file and Saves folder, verified game cache.
Opened game, tried fullscreen again, still a blackscreen.
Closed the game and reopened it, set to run in windowed mode, actually ran.
Created a profile, changed video settings to high and 1920x1080, closed the game.
Reopened the game launcher, set to fullscreen, went into the main game no more blackscreen while running fullscreen.

you know Blair, i've got 45 mins before i leave for work today, my hrs aren't fixed, i've worked 9 days in a row, had one free day yesterday, which i spent getting frustrated over a game that doesn't want to work on my pc. Last time i checked my worksroster i'm working the next 13 days for a min of 6 hrs a day.
I'm a mother, i work fulttime, i share this pc with a gaming son, long story short, i don't have the time for this, it costs less time to just delete a non working game and get my money back.

So everytime I try to save the drowing boy in Confession, my game always freezes right when I jump in, but the audio still plays and I fail to save the boy, any fixes?

If i want to play this game, i can only start the launcher. After i click on the Play button the launcher closes and nothing happens. Is there a solution for my problem?

Try launching it in Windowed mode by choosing Options beforehand.
