Yep, this is our first suggestion for folks that call in to support. We have the game "ignore" most of these programs, but clearly there are a few that we have missed.
It appears that I have the same issue with ZDoom or GZDoom, the source ports for Doom 2, but I can't launch them in windowed mode (or do not know how to do). What I don't understand is that the game worked perfectly before on my device, and Doom 2 with ZDoom also, but I had a trouble with it and had to send it to Microsoft, they sent me a new one, so I reinstalled Steam and the games, and now I have these troubles.
Thanks for help
Problem resolved ! :)
I've contacted Aspyr's support, and they finished to give me these steps that I've followed, and I don't know wich one, but it worked for me, and now Farenheit runs perfectly in fullscreen on my device, and GZDoom too ! :)
1) I deleted my saves folder
2) disabled the steam overlay [or any other client like Raptr (because it conflict with many games)] and
3) DISABLED!! Steam Cloud Saves
and it finally works for me!
Problem still persists. If I choose windowed mode and launch, will still get a black screen followed by the error message. If I close the error message, window will resize and then game will start with default settings (French language)
Hallo Zusammen,
Volker
Hello everybody,
here again a work-around, for the case that others still have problems with the game.
I also got a black screen at the start of the game and that's it.
With starting the taskmanager and coming back to the desktop I have seen that there is another second (white) window from the Quantic Dream Tool, which gave out a lot of call stack error messages. You cannot close that window and (because of its height)
it was not completely shown.
Only when I had chosen a higher (non-native) resolution, re-started the game and wait
for the black screen, I could switch with ALT-TAB to the white window of Quantic Dream.
Now I saw that there are three buttons below (Cancel, Repeat and Ignore).
When you press the ignore button, you finally get into the game.
Since you now this, you can do the whole procedure without higher resolution.
When the black screen appears, switch with ALT-TAB to the white window with the
call stack error messages, get it active and press the i-key to activate the ignore button,
then the game should start.
I hope it helps.
I still opened a ticket at the software manufacturer.
Greetings
Volker
1. Deleted the Fahrenheit.ini file
Right click Fahrenheit from the Steam Library menu and select Properties. Under the Local Files tab, select Browse Local Files. Delete the Fahrenheit.ini file then verify the game cache integrity.
2. Verify Integrity of Game Cache
right click (ctrl+click) Fahrenheit: IPR from the Steam Library menu and select Properties. Under the Local Files tab, select Verify Integrity of Game Cache.
3. turned off the steam overlay
Right click on the game, properties > general > Turn off checkbox enable the steam overlay while in game
4. Then turned off the steam cloud and
Right click on the game, properties > updates > turn off checkbox at enable steam cloud synchronicasion
5. Then at the first popup wait for it to load, chose options > game settings > Full screen.
6. press play, the screen with 2 logo's appear
7. Now you will get that black screen again but with a mouse cursor
8. Press Enter on the keyboard.
The game should work now. Hope this fix works for you too.
This solution worked, finally after so many years I can play it now. Thanks!
