holy ♥♥♥♥ these horrible controls and qt's
Im liking the games story, but im so turned off from it because of the damn clunky-♥♥♥ controls.

And the color quick time events completely ruin it for me. It took dying 5 times to the giant bugs in the office to finally figure out how it works (even with having done the tutorial), and then Im so stressed trying to do the QT's that I have no clue whats going on with the action cause I cant pay attention to both at the same time.

Who the hell designed this crappy interface o.0

*edit* Just did the autopsy in the morgue, and those QTs were so damn fast that I could barely see them, and Ive got really good reflexes.

My reflexes are alright, but I would not call them really good, yet I have zero issues with those quick time events and actually enjoy that feature. I played this game back when it first released, but tried it on PC wiht the keyboard and that was difficult at times. Once I get used to it and figured out what to do, I started to have my fun.

Practice more and replay the game for second time at least to get different ending, using different dialogues, making different choices and I'm sure you will enjoy it more. The game was originally designed for consoles (xbox if I remember correctly) thus it best to play it with controller as I do now. You will have to use sticks rather than keys nad it will go smooth once you will settle. As for the sytem itself - it made so to immerse you more and makes you feel like you doing something rather than chilling on your chair. I like it.

I had hard times with particular levels as well and wa stressed a bit but it's part of the experince.

I got to the boxing match between the two cops, and finally realized just why the QT's are so bad. They dont register half the time. I tried this fight 5 times and never got a single point cause half the time a button wouldnt register (especially when you had to press the same direction on both sets simultaneously, those NEVER worked), and the other half I would get every single button right and it would still fail me.

So clearly theres some MAJOR bugs with the basic game engine.

Well it worked for me. Are you playing this on a keyboard? If so I would suggest using a controller and see a difference. As I said I had some hard time but mostly it was my slow reaction rather than the game fault.

Im on the storm now. I tried to do it for like half an hour straight before I realized you can just button mash. As long as you get the right ones, you can get as many wrong ones as you want and succeed.... This is such a horrible design. A slow-paced story driven game interrupted by insane qte's that feel like they only threw them in so they could claim theres action in their game, and completely ruins any immersion -.-

The irony being that, back when this came out, QTEs were supposedly "the best tool to increase immersion" in video games.

Oh boy were they wrong, there's a reason why QTEs have all but disappeared from games alltogether by now. Any new game that does use them, especially excessively, gets drowned in flames now. Rambo the Video Game comes to mind.

Although, in Rambo, you can actually skip the QTEs completely and just watch the cutscenes if you use a certain item.

If I could just sit back and watch the QTE sequences in Fahrenheit without having to press anything, I would. I pay so much attention to the "Simon says" lights that I don't really get to see what's going on.

And when I do try to actually watch what's happening, I screw up the button prompts because I'm distracted...

Finaly beat it, and I am so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dissappointed in that ending *spoilers ahead obviously*

All that effort, all the rage at button mashing the qte's, killing the orange clan oracle, kill all his snipers, and this damn AI guy just knocks me out with no effort and takes the kid for himself. And now we get some cop out *perfect setup for a sequal* ending where we are fighting and will have some new hero later on.

♥♥♥♥.... this.... ♥♥♥♥. ♥♥♥♥ this whole damn company I am never buying another game by them ever. I want the last two days of my life back
I had no issues with the controls (played it with a keyboard and mouse).

I never experienced that either. I can do most, if not all of the QTEs flawlessly. This might have to do with certain configurations perhaps.

You're right but there are a few games that have utilized them well (God of War and any of the Telltale games come to mind). The simple trick is they have to be used sparingly and not be overly difficult. But a lot of developers aren't grasping that haha.

That's just one of the 3 endings available. It's not the good one because you failed a qte/action sequence against the purple clan AI.

There was only one qte with the purple clan guy. An A-D that i succeeded at, then he starts another attack and I lose instantly

Yep, I played with keyboard and mouse for the very first back when the game came out and after figuring what to do, I felt pretty immersed and impressed with the game. I do agree though it's a shame you cannot watch what your character doing on the screen while being busy with button smashing, but you can record yourslef and watch it later on or just search youtube as it has lots of videos on the subject.

I love this game and cannot ait to get a PS 4 to play Heavy Rain and Beyound Two Souls. And there's also Detroit coming.. :demoneye::demoneye:

Telltale does use them, but unlike this game, it actually gives you more than a nanosecond to react.

Let's ignore the colored buttons for a minute. Another thing that grated me playing this was the short time you have to pick dialogue options. Often times, you don't have the time to read them all and process them before the game decides you took too long.

Granted, Telltale does that too... but they give you ample time to pick responses by comparison.

Telltales QTE's were perfect. They gave you adequate time for actions, plenty of time for dialogue, and didnt overdo them. They were spaced at the right moments.

You should be able to repel the second attack as well. I've done all the endings for my achievement guide - so it is possible.

The game's definetly not perfect but I agree with a lot of what you've said. I so wish Heavy Rain and Beyond Two Souls could come to PC.

All good points. Fahrenheit requires you to be quick but after a while I found it not too troublesome to pull off the QTEs. Heck, some people actually really like the QTEs in this game and it did well critically back in the day.

Agreed.

Use a controller - makes the game playable. Some reason kb/mouse doesn't register sometimes for the QT's.

This is a game i adored back in the playstation 2 era.... But replaying it now i guess my reflexes are too old for this sh...it and such timed QTE die and retry design should definitely NOT be part of an adventure game... A frustrated fan uninstalling this now, what a disappointment the "easy" mode is totally crazy still.

Sorry for the necrobump, but you're absolutely right.
This game absolutely miscalculated how "successful" QTE's would become in the extreme. The game was cool, back in 2005. I even replayed it a couple of times back then. But now? Jesus, it's an utter chore to go through when you get sections upon sections of QTE's thrown at you every ten minutes.
I'm replaying it on PS4 at the moment, but I'm seriously about to uninstall this any minute. This game has aged extremely poorly.
Even tank controls (..) and actual combat would in fact have been better than this QTE c**p!!
