So, how do you get the extra characters like claptrap and so on?
So far I've just gotten the original 5.

I think you're talking about the characters in Poker Night 2, an entirely different game.

The original Poker Night has only the original four characters. Max, Strong Bad, Heavy and Tycho.

Poker Night 2 is a sequel, and has different characters: Brock Samson, GLaDOS, Claptrap, and Sam.
