Edit: May be wrong there But he seemed harder when I had to fight him in the arena
It was actually very disturbing.
Never played a WOTS game before. I should of known better to try a game not like anything I've played before on anything but easy.
Unless you're under a "reduced defense" effect, that attack shouldn't be instakilling you.
Hurts pretty bad though. If you took a couple of other hits first, that would finish you off.
I had taken some hits. I still need more practice I'm sure. I really suck at these kinda "twitch/reflex/skill/whateveryoucallit" games but they are so damn fun.
Use items which give defense increase.
Use styles which reduce damage.*
Use items which give attack increase WITHOUT reducing defense.
Use a sword with a high strength rating.*
* Fighting styles with "Toughness" skills can be identified by having a skill (usually near the top of the list) that's unlocked by getting hit. Beginner just needs the relevant rank unlocked and to be hit. Higher-level versions require you to take hits of a certain strength. Swords usually start with relatively low strength, but can be upgraded at the blacksmith's shop in Town.
First off you will need a style that's quick. Master it. You'll need a sword @ 400 dmg or there-abouts. Make sure your style has toughness to reduce damage and fast eating (Dojima's style ticks all the above criteria)
No, seriously: the damnage on your sword will determine whether this game's combat is fun and fast paced or a slog and waaay too difficult. Makes sure it's strength is decent before taking on any named characters
