The After Years (Steam) vs. (PSP)
Greetings,

Does anyone know if the Steam version of "Final Fantasy IV: The After Years" will be a direct port (with updated graphics) from the PSP version or do they plan on overhauling the game mechanics like they did with the Final Fantasy III (DS/Steam) and IV (DS/Steam) remakes?

It's a port of the Android/iOS version, not the PSP version. Sadly :/

If you look at FF3 and FF4 on Steam, they are both ports of mobile versions.
Square Enix is apparently refusing to put forth any effort with their Steam releases right now.

So more pixelation?

Is the Android/iOS version the same as the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ Wii Version?

By "mobile", they mean the Nintendo DS. So no, not the actual mobile versions. Uh, I should clarify. It IS the similar graphic style as the mobile version of FFIV. It's NOT the mobile version of FFIV: The After Years, which is the game's first platform.

No. I was referring to FF3 and FF4.

Gotcha. So what do I need to know about "The After Years" for Steam? Is it going to be awesome like the PSP version or bad like the Wii version?

It follows neither graphical style. It's a 3D model style thing, similar to FF3 and FF4 DS. From what I hear, the game is- just checked, it IS available on North American mobile devices as a 3D port, and that's the version that's coming to Steam.

Well I look forward to trying the Steam version out seeing as how I don't own a PSP :\

Do you know if "The Interlude" will be packaged with "The After Years" for Steam?

It would be highly inconistent to release a 2D version of The After Years when the only available version of FF4 on PC is the 3D one.

The iOS version was built from scratch, and was not a port of anything.

does iOS version refer to the original version released for cell phones before it was released for the Wii or is the iOS a more optimized version?

It refers to the 3D version, which is the most recent version, and is available in North America instead of just Japan like the original.

Did they make any changes to the original game, like adding Augments, making the game harder, etc? I did hear a few things were removed like the Challenge Dungeons
