Yeah, I was just watching someone take him on, and it can be very rough.

Basic stuff first.. if it is helpful, slow your game battle speed down so it isn't so frantic. Cast Slow on him asap, and Shell on your party if you can.

1. If he casts Reversal Gas one time:

A) Do you have any Elixirs? If so, you are in luck! Toss an Elixir at him, have Rosa cast her highest Cure spell (twice, if you have Dualcast), and have the others heal him with items or spells themselves. He should go down fairly quick.

B) No Elixirs? Settle in for a longer fight. Have Rosa cure as normal, and take steps to try to keep your party alive. Rydia can cast attacking spells on the whole group, or, or just have your attackers hit your own party members to keep their HP up. Try to make sure Rosa doesn't die, as she will be your main damage dealer during this state. If anyone dies during this form, they can not be revived with Phoenix Downs, and I suspect Raise will not work either. Be patient, as he will eventually recase Reversal Gas.

2. If he casts Reversal Gas a second time:

Normal damage rules apply here. Use Rosa to revive and heal as much as you can, and have your physical attackers hit him, and Rydia cast summons. The good news is you can do quite a bit of damage here, and the Ice Armor and Shield should cut down on his damage. Be patient, and be aware that he may cast Reversal Gas at any time, so be ready to change strategy.

3. In either case:

Try to be patient and keep calm. This can be one of the hardest boss battles in the game, and may take multiple attempts, especially your first time through. If you have Elixirs, I strongly recommend you use them here. You can buy more end game, and there are few places that are better to use them on.. they can make this a much easier fight. Good luck!

2 elixers will kill him when he uses reverse gas. If you don't have elixers then just just swap the rolls. Healers will be your attackers with healing magic and attackers will be your healers but attacking your team to heal them. If he uses reverse gas a second time, then you switch back to the normal was of fighting. I also recommend casting shell right off the bat for a bit of extra survivability. It may take a bit of getting used to but evencually he will die. He is also weak to lightning magic so if you can time it right for Ramah or Thundaga...Bolt 3... whatever it is on the FF series now, (I grew up with bolt 3 :P). it works quite well.

Also, don't have any weapons equipped that can give out status effects. If you hit yourself to heal yourself, you can give yourself a status effect via your weapon. I ended up doing that with Rosa's arrows. I mostly focused on healing my own characters by having them hit themselves when the doctor uses reverse gas and went offensive when he uses reverse gas again. That's the main pattern. He uses reverse gas over and over again to switch the healing and damage effects of spells. I also didn't use summons, and I used spells with quicker cast times to make sure I time it right so that he will actually be damaged when the cast time ends (before he can use reverse gas again so that it heals him instead). Really, it's more about timing and changing strategy at the right times. He is difficult. I had a hard time with him, and I didn't think of the elixir trick or much of what the others had said.

Cheers guys, I forgot Rosa had Curaga so when he stuck to casting just the one Reverse it went fairly straight-forward (I had one elixir, haha)
