Hidden summons?
I have played the original FF2 for SNES (multiple times, once through to the end) FF4 on the Sony PS1 (multiple times, one almost to the end) and now this version on Steam; and I have NEVER had any of the 'hidden' summons (i.e. Imp/Goblin, Cocatrice, Bomb, etc.) drop for me.

I've played these various different versions of this game over the last 25 years and never even seen these drop ONCE! The supposed 0.4% drop rate dosen't even come close to explaining this inconsistency in MY games! :madelf:

Has anyone else had this happen to them, or am I alone in my extraordinary lack of luck?

Well, I have a macro set up on my keyboard for 'farming', so I'm going to let it run for a while and see what I get.

Thank you all for listening to the ranting of ant un-lucky gamer!

Its completely random if it drops I've gotten 1 of the hidden summons so far. Having the treasure hunter augment helps but it does require tons of grinding.

Yeah, I realize that; but even complete randomness fails to explain why I have never even seen one drop in almost 25 years of playing through three different versions, two of which had no augments because they (augments) did not exist at that time.
Yes, Square is indeed ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up with those drop rates and they're too lazy to fix them.

Not only do they not choose to fix them, in this version they've made more items that rely on luck and or hours of farming. A decent portion of your ultimate end game gear is only found through extremely rare drops.

Now, they did add the Treasure Hunter augment in this version, and made Sirens buyable, which does help speed the process, but it still takes hours of work. That won't stop me from doing it, but it is tedious.

Oh, and to the OP, I've played the same versions you have, and started at roughly the same time, and the only time I think I've found any of those items is when I've specifically gone looking for them. Keep at it and they'll drop eventually.

I've had Bomb and Goblin drop a few times. Never actively farmed for those ones. I spent 3 days straight getting a red tail and got a blue tail in 20 minutes. Pink tail in an hour.

You're going to get very lucky or VERY screwed.

Well, apparently I've been 'Very Screwed' for over twenty years!

After all my years of playing this game across different consoles, I've managed to get all but the cocatrice summon.

Ive gotten the BOMB, IMP, summons, the BOMB one was ok, IMP sucked horribly though, haha. I got the BOMB drop in the tower of babel, the underground portion. Not sure where I got IMP though

I remember playing back on the SNES version and a friend showing me a Goblin summon in his list. I was surprised and wondered if I missed something. And then he used it in battle, it sucked so hard a golf ball somewhere in the world went through a garden hose, and I stopped caring. In the DS version I got a bomb summon, but they are all pretty worthless so I wont bother.

I got one imp randomly back on the SNES version before I even realized that there were hidden summons. I wouldn't have known about it otherwise.

Guess the only achievement I have left to get! Woohoo!

You need to buy Sirens and use them in specific locations. Better to do so near the end of the game where you can just auto-battle your way through them. It's tedious, time-consuming, but really just as much as the Tails for the Onion/Adamant equipment.

Ok, as the OP I still have never seen the hiden summons, but I now have TWO Stone Blades from black lizards; both AFTER entering the underworld!

I get TWO of something that I only marginally cared about, and NONE of what I really want for completion and quests (I also need Rainbow Pudding)

I HATE random chance!

You can look up what monsters you've already met that would drop these things by scrolling through the big chocobo's monster list. I think rainbow puddings drop from flan--type enemies, if I remember correctly. Imp from the imps in the cave that you go into with Edward for the sand pearl. I've heard that the bombs that drop bomb are in one of the towers that you can't return to later in the game and on the moon in a specific area. Mindflayer from someplace specific in the cave with the dark elf in it. I can't remember what the last one is. I've noticed that tails seem to come from dragon monsters. Though this was pretty much looking at the list in passing and looking at a guide to easily missed stuff one time since I haven't really searched for it right now.

I KNOW what monsters everything is supposed to come from, I'm just making gripes about the horible drop rates of certain items.
As well as my incredibly horible luck.
