I've basically been fighting these guys for 10 minutes now.

Its not that they're too hard (they're actually quite easy, since I'm overleveled due to trying to get a rainbow pudding drop and missable bestiary entries).

I don't know what to do, should I just wait?

You can't kill them just defend until a cs starts.

I think if you keep auto battle on, that may interfere with the cut scene as well. Just turn it off and wait a bit, and things should progress.
