Story is fine. But if thats all people care about when controlling a character... you may aswell read a book. Story is the least relevant thing when playing a video game.
Infact. It should be called a Interactive movie if thats how its going towards at all
FF5 i havent actually gotten to level 99... so i am not sure. But it does from beating final boss... lean more to the visual novel crowd.
Regarding VI, it is just the story for me. Gameplaywise is good but thats all about it.
I can certainly agree that CT and 4 have fewer mechanics to engage with (I'd disagree about 6 given its Esper magic learning system, equipment system, and party choice systems). But story is a huge part of any game?
CT and FF4 had challenging parts; I actually DIED on Dalton in CT! Like, legitimately, not just cause I was testing things. FF4 gets SERIOUS in the Lunar Subterrane and several other places. So there's still plenty of gameplay to soak in.
I would say it's not until modern games where they gut much of that for pixels and drama.
Okay, He had me in the first half when he compared some Final Fantasy games and CT. Everybody has his own taste and opinion. For example I don't like FF 2 much because of the leveling system, but I like 5 for the job system.
But then, when he said story is least relevant...
I can't believe there are people, who think that story is the least relevant thing in a video game...
JRPGs tell a story. Saying story isn't relevant here is like saying breathing is least relevant for being alive.
This isn't Tetris or an old school 2D jump n run game like Super Mario Bros., where's always something simple like "Princess got captured, save her!"...
Well, I'm thinking about an old meme now.
Not sure if troll or just you know what...
