Final Fantasy IV (3D Remake)

Final Fantasy IV (3D Remake)

Questionable design choices in iOS port
The game is pretty faithful to the original which I appreciate, but is really hampered by certain limitations. You can't, for instance, use equipped items like you could in the original. Which sucks because many such weapons had great uses. Can't re-arrange items in the menu, which makes siren-farming the pink puffs annoying. Selecting battle commands is awkward, and unlike basically every other final fantasy where you can just press "right" to defend instead of scrolling up or down a long list of commands.

There's achievements for exploring every map, yet there's no in-game way of keeping track of your progress, which means that you might miss out on a useful augment if you're not paying attention.

I still played the game and enjoyed it, ff4 is great after all, one of my favorite FF's behind 7, but they really could have handled these and other issues better.

You can use equipped weapons, it's just not obvious. It's even possible to sort magicks, but not items, unfortunately. Agree with your post here, also, as for me, any FF with its menus looks more like a prototype and not like an actual game. I really want FFIV remake with Dragon's Dogma-like gameplay and modern graphics.
You can re-arrange the items, though it's never told to you in the game, I found out by searching forums.
Press and hold the select button for a couple of seconds and you can switch items into any order you please. For some reason the inventory automatically scrolls to the top which makes it rather annoying to do. Fully possible to put sirens in the first slot though.
dont know the keybord key but R1 on xbox kontroller for checking map progress

:cid:
You can use equipped items just the same as every other version without having to stick it in a blank action slot. Just select the item from the "re-equip" menu.

You want them to butcher the gameplay entirely? I'm sorry, but FFIV with Dragon's Dogma-like gameplay just isn't FFIV. Also, what do you mean by modern graphics?

If you mean that part where you spend 90% of time in auto-battle mode, watching animations instead of actually playing, then yes, I'd like it 'butchered'. I believe this game deserves something better than just 3DS/iOS remake, but it's not like Square are able to remake it properly anyways, so whatever.

If you spend 90% of the time in auto-battle in order to farm, that's on you. I doubt you ended up using auto-battle on boss fights, unless you were overleveled.

And really, auto-battle is a godsend for farming. Why are you hating on it? It beats having to actually pay attention while farming, which makes it go faster.

Taking away the combat style of FFIV would make it not FFIV. It's dumb to want that.

farming.

So.Very.Polite. Story is what makes FF games, not repetitive grind. I know many people replaying Dark Arisen part of DD for hundreds of hours just because it's fun. I also saw many angry trophy hunters here on forums blaming FFIV for its RNG. Oh yes, call me dumb for wanting some interesting battle system, sure why not.

Farming is a part of the classic FFs. Deal with it or don't play. Story is what makes FF games? LOL. The story is hardly the selling point for any of them.

FFIV's RNG really is rough, but that's pretty common with these games. Just wait until you get the Treasure Hunter augment to farm, and it'll be painless as possible.

Now that sounds weird. Really.

It does? Please, tell me how the plot for this game is original in any way. It has so many cliches it's cringeworthy. Protag is a brooding, perfect guy? Check. His girlfriend is an attractive, fair-skinned woman who also happens to be a healer/medic? Check. His girlfriend eventually gets kidnapped by the villain, and he has to rescue her? Check. Crystals representing elements? Check. Anger and shouting making someone stronger (Edge)? Check.

I could probably go on. Look, I love this game, but its plot is not really good, let alone what defines it.

Yes, please go on. But don't forget to only include things that became a cliche after 1991 (when FF4 was released). That's important!

It doesn't matter when something became a cliche. The fact is that the plot is cliche. Also, the whole elemental crystal cliche was started by the original Final Fantasy, so that was definitely cliche by the time this came out. And sure, I'll keep listing cliches in this game:

-Main protagonist's best friend secretly likes his girlfriend.
-None of the main cast die except the old man.
-Bard happens to be a prince.
-Main villain and main protagonist are related.
-There are/were people on the moon/another planet with highly advanced technology.
-Final boss says "I shall never die, so long as evil people exist" when dying.

Look, I know you want FFIV to have a solid, fresh plot even after all these years, but it just doesn't hold up. It doesn't matter if it was good back then, it matters whether or not it's good now. And it's not.
I now regret making this thread

Why? There's hostility, sure, but no name-calling or other insults so far. I think we're doing rather well.
