I was grinding for 15-20 hours to get that pudding and after finally getting it, i got another one in 10 minutes while trying to get the Pink Tail D:

Is it useful or do i just sell it ?

Lol found 2 more in the next 30min.
Are you kidding me ?!?

Found 4 Rainbow Puddings in an hour ! That must be a world record !
This is incredible, its like the game has raised the drop rates for the items that i already possess lol.

Now if only i can get that Pink Tail instead D:

Dont sell it, if its your only one.
Its for the Namingway side quest in Mobliz, i think its where it is.

But its the hardest side-quest in the game, only because you need this item to complete it.

I got it from one of the Red Mousses I found. I didn't realize it was that rare, I almost sold it now for the very nice amount of 100k Gil (especially since I want to buy some new expensive armor at Mysidia). I guess I'll just grind for the gil, then.

Namingway is now Hackingway and showing up in other Final Fantasy games.

Namingway asks for the rainbow pudding while he's in Agart, the greedy bastard. I tried farming for it in the Antlion cave for a while but I was losing the will to live and decided I'd just do it when I had the Treasure Hunter augment to help me.

LOL that's some real RNG trolling you man.

Through a screw up of my own design, I managed to not complete part of the floor maps in the Tower of Bab-il so I'm out for Treasure Hunter on my first run, essentially sandbagging tail and pudding collecting for the duration.

Though I did manage to get insanely lucky in the Lunar Subterrane - I opened the one chest where the Red Dragon ambushes the party. After it wiped out everyone BUT Cecil, I kept toying with the idea of just allowing it to finish the job and resume after the full wipe but decided against it. After a tug of war ensued where I mostly used Cecil to cast Cura on himself and hoped the dragon would physically attack so Counter would kick in on it, I made it through the fight.

I didn't even fully register it at first, but my reward for sticking it out was a red tail. That was the first (and thus far only) Red Dragon I've encountered the entire time I've been attempting to map out the Subterrane, so I'm calling that pure rear end RNG smooching that cuts down on hours of mind-numbing grind inanity to get the Onion Sword.

Do these rainbow puddings carry over to the next playthrough? I've been farming pink tails... gone through two full stacks of sirens at this point. No tails, but like 5 puddings. Wondering about some early gil in the next playthrough.

Sadly I can't say anything about the puddings (I tried one last time in the Subterrane with the Flan Princesses to no luck) but the items I had that carried over in the save were 1 Gold Hour Glass, 1 Red Fang and the Onion Sword (I'm possibly forgetting one other, aside from any augments/key items). I would sincerely hope that, as rare a drop as the pudding is, it carries over.

Rainbow Puddings carry over to next playthroughs. Its good for gil.
Also dont have to do the Namingway side quest again.
Serin9X Mar 22, 2018 @ 6:57pm
For the record no, rainbow puddings do NOT carry over to the next playthrough. It's possible they would if I hadn't done the namingway quest that asked for it, but I did so I don't know that. I just know the 5 puddings I ended the game with don't translate to half a million gil in the next game.

I feel less bad about getting shafted for one the first time knowing that.

It does make some small amount of sense though, just like the Onion Sword not being early game breaking (like I'd secretly hoped it was) until you can level out Cecil and/or Kain to the point where they can absolutely destroy with it properly.

In fairness to the Onion set (which I couldn't summon the will to farm), the adamant armor absolutely DOES turn your non-dark knight party members into immortal god beasts. Watching Child Rydia take 1 damage from an attack that probably should have done half her hp is pretty satisfying.
