Game Timer Only Goes Up to 99:59?
I've been fruitlessly farming for pink tails obviously for quite a while now, and in the process I noticed the game timer only goes up to 99:59 then stops counting. And the timer on Steam only shows how long the Launcher's been opened for. Not how long you've been playing the game itself. And I have a bad habit of leaving the launcher opened so I've got hundreds of hours showing on Steam.

It's really not a huge deal, but you'd think the devs coulda put in that little bit of extra effort to have a timer with more than just 2 numbers to track the hours. It's not like it's still 1990 and every byte you can save matters. I suppose I'm just more confused by it than anything.

As for the pink tail farming. At this point I don't even know whether to just cut my losses and move on to New Game+, or keep trying for it. And I would like to farm for some apples and soma drops because I've heard they carry over to New Game+. And I haven't even gotten any of the other tails, except a single green one. How on Earth do people farm full onion sets for their whole party? Or Adamant armor for their whole party. It's gotta take countless hundreds of hours.

My party members are maxed out, and any items the flan princesses drop like dry ethers and elixirs, I already have tons of and don't get carried over to New Game+ as I understand it. So there's no need to keep getting those. And unfortunately I missed out on the Treasure Hunter Augment, despite my best efforts. But man, that woulda been helpful.

This just shows that pink tail farming takes way more time than they had anticipated.

Haha either that or I'm extremely unlucky. Or both. Either way, I'm determined to get one of these damn things lol. At least one. Though I guarantee by the end of New Game+ I'll be going for 4 more plus the onion equipment so I can fight Proto-Babil.

Dude, I've literally been doing nothing but farming for the past 7 hours lmao. I even opened discussions tab just to look for a better strat or honestly just using CE at this point. I have 1 adamant armour and got the pudding too. I honestly can't imagine getting 5 adamant chests, let alone full onion sets for everyone. You have to actually no life for hundreds of hours for that lol 😴
Thankfully pink tail is just using Siren, autobattle, healing (repeat) and I'm still going insane. I onoy wanted them to fight Geryon but at this point I may just try him with 1. Then beat the game and forget it exists :cuphead:

EDIT: Oh and btw, I do have treasure hunter and the droprate is still aids

Yeah, I've read guides that claim the drop rate for the Pink Tail, or any of the tails for that matter, is 0.4%. Which works out to 1 out of 250 battles. I've fought over 600 and haven't gotten a single one. The same guides also claim a 1% drop rate for rainbow pudding from them, as opposed to, I think it's a 5% drop rate from other types of flans. But even with the 1% (1 in 100) drop rate I haven't collected a single rainbow pudding during my farming. Not that I need them. But it makes me extremely suspicious that these figures of 0.4% and 1% are way way off.

I mean, I have a pretty good understanding of how probability and randomness work. So I know 1 in 250 doesn't actually mean you should definitely get one after 250 tries. It just tells me that the fact that I haven't got one after 600 some odd just means I'm extremely unlucky. Which sounds about right lol.

Since all I basically have to do for the Pink Tail is leave auto-battle on for the battles and between battles I just have to cure Cecil a few times, then use a siren. I'm thinking maybe I should just make a macro to do that, and leave it running for about 2 hours at a time. Since I figured out that each time I fight a battle, heal, then use a siren takes about a minute and a half give or take, depending on how many hits I land. So by 2 hours, most of my sirens would be gone.

It really makes the battle go by fast if you use the Draw, ????'s Love and counter augment on Cecil because then he's just constantly countering. And it seems like ????'s Love does more damage than a regular attack, but takes just as long to execute. Unless I'm mistaken.

Yeah I pretty much farmed around 3 hours for 1 rainbow pudding and a pink tail. Then I did another 4 hours for nothing, well I got like 3 rainbow drops but idc about those.

I had Cecil on back row with Draw Attacks, Counter and instead of Attack, I had Item=Stardust. Took 3 or 4 stardust to kill em.

I just sucked it up and went to fight Geryon with just 1 Adamant Armour. Thankfully a got a lucky Curse ring early game so I just gave both to Rosa and prayed (irl). I killed it after like 30 minutes. I should've done that instead of fruitlessly farm for another Pink Tail.

Now all I need is to do Protobabil but I'm kinda scared lol. It seems that people think he's harder, but those people somehow all had Adamant armour for Geryon. So I dunno which is actually worse without OP gear.

I had a feeling you could set an item for counter, but I don't believe I ever figured out how. Unless that was setting a spell for counter.

Basically what you do is make his top Ability Item=Stardust. Then below it select Counter. I dunno if this makes the game think of it as regular Attack and it's a bug or if it was meant to work this way.

This works for something like Kick too, set that up on top and he'll use that as a Counter.

Don't stand in one place and keep spamming siren. Move a little after every battle. This applies to all item farms. Do that, and you'll be shocked by how quickly those rare items start dropping.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't skeptical. But I'm going to try this anyways. And if it works, you're gonna see the biggest facepalm ever. Cuz I'm verging on 2,000 of these stupid flans and still not so much as a rainbow pudding. Much Less a pink tail. But I put farming that on hold to farm for silver apples, and then soma drops to carry over into New Game+.

I know I'm just delaying the inevitable in putting off the pink tail. I've already decided by now not to bother with any parts of the onion set, but I NEED just one, at least one pink tail. Just for the sake of closure. Just so I can feel like all of this effort in farming wasn't in vain. Ya know?

Alright, I'll give your strategy a try. At the very least, it'll give me something to do while I'm farming. Heh.

I read it somewhere else, and it was a godsend. One set of sirens/stardusts was enough to get the 3 remaining pink tails I wanted to complete my set of 5. ( Couple of resets, but still ) I actually stopped moving while leveling up against green dragons because the green tails were piling up, and that seemed to help with siren/silver apple accumulation.

You only need to move just a little. A couple of tiles or so. Rarely enough to trigger a normal encounter.
