I got 2-3 by the time I got a single pink tail.
So when I went for adamant armor I actually remoted into my PC from work, I'd intiate Flan Princess Battles, and then check back in 3 or 4 minutes while I did other, productive stuff. I had Cecil set to just autocast Cura and had the counter augment. They do a lot of damage, but him casting cura constantly kept my party alive, and with the elixirs and high ethers they drop I was set indefinitely.
As I currently have killed approximatly 500 Goblins and havnt gotten the Goblin Summon until now
The Goblin one was tough, I actually got it in the antlion cave too on my 2nd run, though I wasn't explicitly grinding for it. I'd love to know WHY they settled on numbers like 0.4% drop rates (or 0.8 with treasure hunter - wee!!!). Even if they'd made it 2%, it would have still been tedious. They should've just made the treasure hunter augment harder to get, and made it boost the drop rate by more than it does.
I'm pretty sure the Artemis bow was the hardest thing for me to get. I had SIX ribbons by the time I got that bow, and must've killed 600 cary's.
As the yellow Goblin is named Domovoi and only drops potions, I fear that the position and/or order in which you kill enemies has an influence on which item you get.
With AUTO-battle you kill the Domovoi as the last one, and I fear that I will only get potions because of that ... just got a bronze hourglass in a auto-battle where I killed the yellow goblin last, so at least the drop isnt from the last killed enemy exclusively as the Domovoi only drop potions & tents.
Unlike the Summon Creatures items, at least a single rainbow pudding is used for advancing in the Namingway quest series, and because of that it makes sense to farm rainbow puddings as soon as you get the airship.
When you cast the STONE black magic spell on a party member, it is petrified and doesnt receive XP until you cure that.
If you are lucky, you might also get the Summon Goblin item while farming rainbow puddings !
(I mistakenly believed that Namingway/GoingMyWay gave you the Treasure Hunter augment at the end of his quest line, so having it equiped was impossible for hunting Rainbow Pudding).
Pink Tail is where I was luckiest. My first time through the final dungeon, I entered the room with the flan princesses. I used a siren so I could add them to my bestiary. Fought one battle, and a pink tail drop. I didn't even know what it was for, so I continued going through the dungeon :D
I'm currently working on the blue tail. 260 battles and counting to get my first blue tail. I've taken Cecil from 84 to 95 almost entirely on blue tail.
That luck is INSANE!
You probably don't know this (because you said you didn't know what the pink tail was for), but in the original game if you used a siren (or "alarm" as it was called in some releases) and defeated the Princess Flans, you only had a 1 in 64 chance of it dropping.
Doesn't sound so bad does it? However, in the original SNES release, there were no sirens/alarms, and so you had to random battle the Princesses, which were a rare spawn. ALSO a 1 in 64 chance of even appearing.
Long story, short... Any time on the SNES cart you got into a battle in that room, you only had (assuming you were 100% guaranteed to win the upcoming fight) a 1 in 4096 chance of getting the pink tail.
Knowing this, hearing someone randomly getting it on the first go without even knowing about it makes my jaw nearly hit the floor.
Grats on the insane luck!
At least I got my 2nd rainbow pudding after wasting a lot of sirens for these monsters that look like a PUNSCHKRAPFERL

Killed 255 "Punschkrapferl" until now and only got a single Rainbow Pudding and ZERO Pink Tails
