Golbez in Hard Mode

Has anybody beat Golbez in hard mode? I just rage quit when he used Osmoses.

It's really tough and I barely did it on my second try. Before the real fight even began, I slowed him using Rosa. When the real fight began, I rushed to revive all my fallen party members. Rosa healed them to a decent amount of health while Cecil casted shell on all party members. Rosa should also cast Libra on Golbez periodically so Rydia will know what summon she needs to use to inflict damage to Golbez. The worst part is that if I lost this fight, there was no way I can just skip the cutscenes and I have to rewatch everything.

It was a pain having to go through the cut scene and fighting the dolls over again. I did manage to beat him. I just changed battle mode to wait. On active Golbez gave me no chance to revive and heal my team. Every time i revive somebody they die before the next person can heal. Thanks for the advice tho. :)

Since the DS version is technically the Steam version's Hard Mode, Golbez was quite the pain. I attepted to start off with a Bio then I attepted to outlast him using magic items to aim for his weaknesses. Glad I debuffed him with Sap, or I would've been quickly defeated!
P.S. I had set my ATB gauge to wait since this entire madness was part of my ongoing first playthrough. Many mistakes were made and Active never was used!

That's also a pain. His dumb Barrier shield. The first time i played fought Golbez on normal mode i didnt know why i was having a hard time beating him until i finally cought on. On the SNES version he never used barrier shield so i was caught off guard. It's a pain since you cant just attack him with magic blindly and have to waste a turn to cast Libre. Bio helps a lot and swtiching to Wait helps tremndously. Also, I really hate the menue screen just assorting through spells and items makes it a pain!

Tell me about it! Since I have a special way to organize my spells, it kinda was a pain to sort through Rydia's spells since they have a preset setup when she joins. Fortunately, I reorganized them afterword!

All of the bosses are a bit of a ♥♥♥♥♥ on hard mode and Golbez isn't even worst.

Equip Cecil with the Sleep Sword before you encounter Calcabrena. This way you'll at least be able to hit Golbez with a strong physical attack. Most people always tend to still have the Fire sword which doesn't work well on Golbez.

I happend to get a hold of a Stoneblade by accident! Glad it's stronger than the Flameblade!

I was on hard mode, and with the real time wait system... thing(Active?) and befor Golbez used blinding cold, i cast Shell on Cecil, but forgot to use Haste as well (Cecil use Shell and Rosa Use Haste). I never even revived Yang or Kain when i beat him, didnt even try, I tried to spare Kain of blinding cold with jump but jumped to soon and he still got killed. I of course revived Rosa ASAP, Rydia and Cecil used Hi-Potions and Cura until i could get a rythem of Curaga with Rosa. I kept using ethers on Cecil so Golbez would only target him with Osmose, and of course used Libra, sometimes with Cecil, so I would know what spell for Rydia to use, i didnt even TRY using summons because i didnt know exactly what they all did at the time. I had attempted this (befor a bit of level grinding) about 6 or 7 times befor and couldnt do jack squat to him, i think it was only luck that i actually lived, i just beat him yesterday, UGH, FINALLY!!

I honestly could need some help with this, I beat the SNES version easily back in 2000s.
Now I am playing on Hard mode, my party is in the range of Level 70-75, Cecil has HP of 4.7k while others have 3.8k

When the battle begins, I use steal to get the Dark matter, have Kain Jump, Cecil Attack, Rosa Prey/Curaga and Rydia attack as well. Then my boi comes up with the Big Bang that deals 5k damage, How can I even reduce that? Even the effects of Shell on party gets nullified with his Black hole attack.
