Game won't work

Just got this in the humble bundle and wanted to give this a try. The screen goes black and I hear about 2 seconds of music and then nothing happens. I cannot close the game out, cant alt+f4 or shut the game down in task manager. I have to restart my computer each time. I have read through this and done a google search and tried some of the suggestions that are listed but none of them have worked. Most of the complaints seem to be centered around mac's but I am not on a mac, I am on a PC with windows 10 and no controller so that shouldn't be the issue. I wasn't able to direct download from the Humble Store so there wasn't that way to solve it.

So how are you guys running this game issue free?

I did actually, I had the same issue with The Walking Dead and someone on there had the answer to the situation. I went to the game itself in the steam folder and found the .exe for the game and right clicked on it and selected properties and then the compatibility tab. I selected the windows 8 option, hit apply and then it works from then on out.

I had the same problem, I was able to fix it by going to the .exe in the installation folder, clicking properties, compatibility, then "run in 640x480 resolution" Once the game loads up you can adjust the video settings from inside the game to best fit.

I'm having the same problem on my Macbook Pro.

I tried everything posted here, but what eventually worked for me was to go to the game file, right click and choose "Troubleshoot Compatibility" from the menu. Accept all Windows defaults and then the game started and ran smoothly. I haven't tried adjusting the game settings after this, but at least now the game is working for me. Hope this helps someone.
