Cant play multiplayer online "An unknown exception occurred" every time. Single player works fine.

So every time me and a buddy try to play metal slug in multiplayer we crash with the error "An unknown exception occurred" the host doesn't get it only the joining party crashes. If I host he can join the lobby just fine but as soon as i click start it crashes his game. It doesn't matter who hosts the lobby the joining party crashes with that error we've both tried each role multiple times with all the different windows compatibility settings and it makes no difference.

Also this happens with all the metal slugs we both own 1,2,3, and X and everyone with multiplayer does the same thing. We both can play all 4 versions on single player with no issue its only on starting a multiplayer game that this happens. What can we do to fix this issue?

Were both running similar systems Intel i5, 16 gb ram, Nvidia GTX 970 and RTX 2070 we have both been playing games with each other for years and dont have issues with anything else. Thanks for the help

Yea same problem I just bought the game. With my and my friend. Who ever gets invited it happens to after starting the game.

Yeah we both got them for coop and cant even play another waste of money

It happened with me and my friend too. I never had this problem before, it worked without problems on coop online.

Ok, me and my friend figured out something.

Instead of inviting your friend, you need to make a lobby and pray for the gods of heavens that your friend can find you in there, once he joins you, let him select his character first, do not even move your ♥♥♥♥♥♥ cursor or you'll send your ♥♥♥♥♥♥ friend to hell.

And that's it.
We also found out metal slug x is sluggish as hell, so ye, feel free to try this on Other Metal Slugs instead. Since they all have the same problem.

Maybe the lesser the number, the lesser slugish it is.

This happened to me too when i wanted to play with a friend.
What fixed this for me, is having the same video settings as the person you want to play with. In my case this was 800*600 resolution, Fullscreen, 4:3 ratio, Filtering Enabled, no Scanlines
