Xanadu might be a good game, don't get me wrong, I was just let down when I realized it has very little in common with Faxanadu other than very coincidental circumstances

Faxanadu was its own thing, and unlike the Xanadu games.

Faxanadu wasn't even developed by the original creators [Falcom]. It was outsourced to Hudson, they ported quite a few Falcom Games to Console. Like Sartorius wrote, Faxanadu stands on it's own, it was created solely for the NES (from the Console, the Game got it's name: Famicom Xanadu= Faxanadu).

Of course I will not give you a Videogame-History lesson now. But Xanadu Next is an Action RPG containing a Mix of various Falcom Games and western RPG's. Don't expect anything like Faxanadu here. This Thread is maybe a little advice for people who are thinking the same.
