Mage playthrough.(magic only)
I youst fought a fire lizard(spammed ice lvl1) and so far i've gotten 200% prof with the knife and axe while I bought the lvl1 spell of fire, ice, thunder and needle and been using them all.

The limited amount of casts is annoying but I would think that if you youst kill what is necessary and bosses you could potentionally have enough casts if you get as many spells as possible to get through, at least to what I have so far, using spells only.

Except maybe for the beginning unless you can grab the needle spell without killing anything or somehow get 200g for any of the spells.

More experienced players, can you reliably get through the game using only spells?

Assuming there might be something magic immune/highly resistant.

it's not possible to only use magic, no. you could probably get through the majority of the game doing so though

Could you be more specific? obviously no spoilers so if it's a boss that's immune or something then youst say 1 boss is immune or whatever, keeping it vague.

I thought about hitting crates which seems to be essential to get to certain places but i'm pretty sure you can use magic to cut them down.
You can't use magic to defeat the final boss, only the Dragonslayer and its weapon skill. For most of the game's magic challenging but viable to use so long as you keep Magic Potions stocked and alternate between spells based on the situation/enemy stats. But this means you'll lock yourself out of later weapon tiers unless you invest enough points in key areas to use a weapon and get that skill (along with using stat-buff passive skills). Mages end up squishier and more limited, so I'd recommend playing one on a repeat playthrough since it's more fun to mess around with less useful skills as a new comer.
