What level is Adol at in Boss Rush for Majunun?
I was able to beat him because the lightning magic does decent damage but in my Normal game I do almost nothing. I'm at level 52.
I know that usually the level cap is 60 in Ys games, but there is no way I'm leveling up to that.

Level 60 with 320 STR and 302 DEF. Only reason I know this is because of a bug that lets you open the menu after defeating him (not supposed to be possible in Time Attack).

That's nuts.
Thanks.

Well, it's not like level 60 is required. Some time ago, I defeated him at level 54 for a Nightmare playthrough (PS2 version). I had all the STR boosting equipment I could, and was able to do it with a bit of effort. I think my setup was max sword upgrades, along with the Galba Shield, Emelas Armor, Wooden Bracelet, Emelas Gloves, Galba Hand, Emelas Crown, Lucky Silver Coin, and then Capla Waters to heal/restore MP.

Granted, if you're playing on Catastrophe mode, that changes things a bit. Can buy STR/DEF seeds to lessen some grinding. The downside is you need some dodging skill since you won't be able to heal/restore MP fast. But it's still very much doable before level 60 either way. You might even be able to get away with a level or two lower for a Normal difficulty, non-Catastrophe playthrough, though I'm not certain of that.

Just be aware that the achievement is broken at the moment, if you're going for that.

To expand on that a bit, you're level 60 for Normal, 59 for Hard, and 58 for Nightmare. Your equipment loadout is:

All 3 swords at max grind
Emelas shield/Emelas armor
Lucky Silver Coin, Emelas Guards, Emelas Crown, Emelas Glove, and Galba Hand.

Napishtim has you at level 50 with a similar loadout as above, but swords are level 10, and you have Heavy Belt+Sylphen Boots instead of the Galba Hand and Lucky Silver Coin.

It seems Majunun is the only boss that gives you a different level based on difficulty, as opposed to the other bosses in time attack.

Hmm, it is as you say regarding the levels. How peculiar. That's not something I would expect Falcom to mess with between difficulties. Makes me wonder if Majunun's the only one like that or not (I could only seem to get the menu to show up during Napishtim and Majunun, and Napishtim's is consistent across the difficulties).
