Thanks for this, some reason i was hearing audio of the video and not seeing the actual video. FFDSHow was the culprit i just disabled it and it worked like normal!
Usually this kind of thing is due to 3rd party codec which misbehaving. Try to disable (or uninstall if you can't).
The game doesn't support exotic media player other than the default windows media player. you have to set the file association of media files like the game cutscenes (.avi, mpeg) to windows media player. if you do't have the program installed, you may do it via windows control panel. this solved my issues with the game
