Intro not playing?

For some reason the intro movie is automatically being skipped, anybody else having the same problem? It plays the start of the music but it almost immediately fades out and ends.

I'm still downloading the game and have yet to try it. However, I have seen this occur in other games and it is usually a codec issue. One place to start is to make sure you have no non-standard codecs installed. It is also possible for some codecs to blacklist specific applications. This is possible with ffdshow for instance. Using the blacklist to disable the codec for this game would be an alternative to uninstalling the non-standard codec package entirely.

Thanks for this, some reason i was hearing audio of the video and not seeing the actual video. FFDSHow was the culprit i just disabled it and it worked like normal!

Usually this kind of thing is due to 3rd party codec which misbehaving. Try to disable (or uninstall if you can't).

dB was right when it was a codec issue.

Well I tried some things and it seems like it only happens on windowed mode, it plays fine full-screen. It's still weird because this didn't happen to me with any other Ys game on Steam, nor when I played the original fan translation of this game.

Hi, I may have the solution for this, i though i would share for those having the same difficulties.
The game doesn't support exotic media player other than the default windows media player. you have to set the file association of media files like the game cutscenes (.avi, mpeg) to windows media player. if you do't have the program installed, you may do it via windows control panel. this solved my issues with the game
