Dual Language
Might as well ask now, were you guys able to secure the license to have dual audio like the PS2 version of the game? Or is this still the based on the original PC version with some slight modifications?

I'm also curious about this. I want to know if the steam release will have anything left out from the PS2 version, or if it has everything PS2's version has and more.

This is based on the PC version. The only changes will be the simpler stuff like Widescreen support and such. No voices or anything from the PS2 version. Those would probably be pretty expensive to license from Konami anyway. It won't have the ps2 exclusive areas, nor will it have the fully polygonal characters/monsters.
I'm fine with all this, as personally the PC version is still the version to go with anyway,

I have a suggestion for Xseed, how about some dlc that gives us the PSP versions load times.
Imagine, you too could hae to wait for over a minute for an area to load, just like the authentic PSP experience. Make it $9.99.

But yeah, really this is par for the course with these older Falcom Games coming to steam. They are all just slightly modified releases of the original PC versions. I still want more of em~
How about some Zweii guise :v Its probably too much to wish for PC versions of the console exclusive titles like Brandish (Thanks for finally getting that up on the EU PSN) or Ys VII/Celceta, but I can dream.

Thanks for the reply. I already own the ps2 version so I was wondering if I'd be missing out on anything if I double dipped here. I'm holding off on Oath in Felghana too because I already have the PSP version which has content the pc version doesn't. I'm really happy Xseed has been bringing so many wonderful games to PC. It'd just be nice if these versions included everything the console ports have. But I understand that can be difficult =(

Someone did a patch for Ys The Oath in Felghana which inserted the voice track from the PSP version to the Steam version.

Maybe the same could be done with this too.

Voices from ps2 version were really bad.
Felghana got a patch to include voices from the psp version, but it was in Japanese.

As far as I remember, voices from Ys VI ps2 version were in english. It was bad. And the cgi was horrible.

Both Ys The Ark of Napishtim (PS2) and Ys The Oath in Felghana (PSP) have voice tracks in Japanese and English. And that patch for the PC version of The Oath in Felghana allow you to use either the Japanese or English voice tracks of the PSP version, depending on the language files you are using.

Assuming it's like the pc versions of Oath and Origin were I wouldn't think it would have any voice-acting at all aside from maybe combat grunts and haiyahs. And given Oath and Origin were *later* games...

Maybe someone can do like they did for Oath and patch in the psp voices but I really wouldn't expect anything out of the box.
