Grappling Hook not working

I can't finish the last level on the first arcade machine because no button on my 360 controller shoots a hook from the grapple gun. Thoughts?

I'm also using a 360 controller and for me the graplling hook is activated by the jump button (A).
It can only be fired when you see a red line aming at a possible hook point, though.

For everyone, the grappling hook is the jump button. It attaches the hook when there is a red aiming line, and de-attaches it when you hit jump again. If you hold jump, you will get sucked into the hook.

Odd. Turns out for me I have to press jump (A) and fire (X) at the same time for it to work. Buggy.

Took me longer than I would care to admit to figure out how to use it. I swore it has something to do with the fire button since it worked a couple times. When your duck would normally flutter his wings to land softly is when he fires it.

So jump a second time while in the air.
