It just feels super ridiculous that it's so hard to unlock hats and gameplay modifiers. I think that might be because I'm playing with a controller while a keyboard allows for maximum precision in Duck Game.
Do the medals which are better than Gold give you tickets or unlock further challenges?
UR THE BEST is a secret rating above platinum that doesn't give you any special reward other than bragging rights. If you're going for all platinum medals, UR THE BEST can act as a substitute for platinum (since hey, it's even better.)
Controller is superior, imo. I hate playing on a keyboard. That said, there are a couple of things that are easier on keyboard (such as gun-jumping and sword stabs).
On public beta branch, there's a special reward for all dev medals. I won't say here because spoilers, but the last video of the playlist I posted earlier shows you what it is.
What I meant with saying that a keyboard allows for maximum precision was pretty much theoretically speaking (since Duck Game doesn't make use of analogue input, unlike steering in racing games and such) and my own experience I had with doing the obstacle course challenge with a keyboard instead of a controller. In the end, each person will be better with one of the two things, that's true. The dev of this game plays it on a controller, too. I just happen to unfortunately prefer the controller while probably being better with the keyboard.
Now back to the topic:
While pretty much everyone can win in the multiplayer mode the singleplayer is kind of the opposite. I have a very hard time reaching Gold in many challenges while I'm pretty competent in the online multiplayer mode. Not unlocking things and reading that Gold isn't actually one of the hardest things to aquire makes this frustrating. That's why I feel that the difficulty of unlocks should be lowered. Not everything has to be easy and I'm fine with stuff like hats that may be really hard to get but just a little more rewards for the worse players would be very nice, I think.
