Hunter changes to survivor

I started a new run as a hunter. Then I quitted the game and came back to find a white slugcat in a shelter instead of a pink one. It's not just the color: it can't eat creatures and cannot hold two spears, so it's just survivor now (with hunter spawns and timer countdown). I tried quitting and coming back to the game several times, and sometimes it starts me as a hunter, but most often something bugs out and it turns into a survivor.

Lol, I had the same bug last game on my hunter save file. Unfortunately the change is saved with the progress. Character (hunter) is now white, moving as fast as hunter but can only eat fruits and small creatures as Survivor. I don't know if there is some method to fix that.

So one method to possibly fix it is to have jolly coop enabled (You can play single player while jolly coop is enabled) and in the Jolly coop menu in the character selection, switch the slugcat from Survivor back to hunter.

the way to (temporarily) fix this bug is by changing the current slugcat in the expedition menu to hunter, this can also be used to break the hunter run by selecting rivulet, artificer, spearmaster, or saint to make certain sections ridiculously easy. it seems to happen when you complete an expedition run with hunter and then change the selected character before starting another, though it might just occur when the expedition isn't in progress.
