Can't swim into the void sea :(

In Artificer mode, even after gaining maximum karma through echoes and a scavenger, the void sea doesn't allow me to swim past a certain point. It almost feels like there's an invisible wall, or like the game pushes me back up the same amount that I'm going down so I just end up awkwardly going sideways. This makes it impossible to swim into the void sea without using dev tools and blocks me off from the (AMAZING AND HEARTBREAKING) ending.

Also, the room in the metropolis that's right below one of the shelters is so huge that it consistently lags my game, despite the fact that I NEVER have issues with lag anywhere else. It's the room with the yellow lizard dens that spans multiple screens, some of which you can only move between using pipes, so I think it would make more sense to just,, split them.
