How big are Slugcats really?
The recent DLC has shed some light on something- If a child Ancient is so big to us, how big are we really? The Iterator puppets made us think slugcats were quite big, but.. what if the puppets were just doll sized?

About twice as tall as a slugpup.

puppets were doll sized! iirc either joar or james implied that slugcats were about 2-3 feet tall
if you compare them to an echo & the karma 4 mural & the statues in the depths, puppets were about the size of an actual hand puppet

i think lore wise they are bio engineered creatures to clean pipes in the structures so i dont think they would be as big as the ancients
also if by child ancient you mean the echo in the dlc i dont think thats what they look like, the echos are more so astral beings like a dimension traveller, they have a physical form but its nothing like how they were before ascending

The Metropolis region in Downpour and the Ancient urban/shattered terrace in watcher kinda implied that ancients were of like, a similar size range to slugcats or lizards, since all of the room connections were these same slim tunnels that a creature much bigger than a lizard just couldn't fit through. Or maybe we could use the size of the echoes as a reference, or the murals. It all sorta just hints at them most likely being 2-3 times as tall as a slugcat

the room connections are little pipes and tunnels and cracks in the walls that the animals crawl through. majority of them are not the actual route that people used to get around, but there are exceptions, such as the access shaft in pebbles

I personally believe that this confirms that the ancients lived on a larger scale than what we see in the game, my personal theory is that they designed creatures to live in smaller scale buildings as to produce things, like in Industrial Complex. Most buildings in the background are also made of intricate blocks, so I think that slugcats were intended to be there while the ancients were on the outside (or inside) living in a completely different place than we see. This makes sense judging by their skill in developing creatures and focus on religion over industry, they probably just made smaller worker creatures do all of the work. Also I don't see how anyone could think that they would fit through pipes in the first place judging by the size of echoes in the base game.

They aren't CONFIRMED to be that, but it's SUSPECTED that they are. This is mainly due to Moon talking about a purposed organism that was a pipe-cleaner and how most living creatures today are probably descended from various purposed organisms - the slugcat's design lends itself to the inference.

slugcats are in no way related to slugs. slugcats aren't even called slugcats in-universe. slugcats are tree dwellers and it feels very hard for me to believe that a pipe cleaner slug evolved into a fat possum
& there is literally an overseer projection of moon cataloguing fauna, with an image of a slugcat there. you would think that it'd jog her memory of what it was if an unrecognisable creature brought her a pearl of blueprints for its distant ancestors, no ?

I get the feeling you don't engage in discussion honestly. I never mentioned slugs at all, and logically you're reaching no less far than myself by insisting upon the absoluteness of your interpretation. I must hope you're still young, because this behaviour in an adult is troubling.

yes i am young. but im just saying like. theres things pointing towards "they are not pipe cleaners". i made the point that they arent related to slugs because i am saying they are probably not descendants of slugs

There could have been doors that the player couldn't go through off screen- we are only shown a flat space, to be fair
