Lost And Frustrated (Watcher Spoilers
So I started playing the watcher dlc shortly after it released and I thought it was cool and intriguing at first. The echo being a weirdo I had to play hide and seek with while the world slowly rotted away seemed cool at first. Until he dumped me in the coral caves. Where Ive been stuck for 40 cycles, not counting all the cycles I died in.

Im slowly running out of places I can safely get food and have resorted to eating the cute little seaslugs and poisoning myself because I cant figure out where to go. Ive died so many times and gotten softlocked by the zappy rock crab things trapping me in a room or preventing me from going forward-

Im so frustrated right now. I already read several spoiler heavy guides to try and help me figure out how to progress and know I have to find a pink squiggly line SOMEWHERE to open a portal or some other nonsense but this doesnt even feel like Rain World anymore. Im heavily considering uninstalling the game, disabling the watcher mod, and reinstalling it again because I liked the base game and the downpour dlc but I dont like the watcher dlc at all so far. I like exploring and having a properly OPEN WORLD experience. Not being trapped in the same 25 rooms for what feels like at least 5 hours of gameplay. I didnt even get to go see Pebbles and hes my favorite lil guy

If anyone can give me more clear directions, like does the black squiggles Ive found in a specific room mean anything, or if are there specific rooms the portal is most likely to spawn in, Id greatly appreciate the help

Pretty sure you just stand next to the black squiggles until a big black orb shows up, then stand in the black orb.
Seems like you got hit with some bad luck. The way it normally goes is that you gradually find portals to other areas, so it's almost too open world. I have only seen the area you're describing once briefly, based on the presence of sea slugs, and when I went there, I didn't find much of anything either. The areas are hit or miss, and which ever you go to when you're teleported is apparently random, which feels like a bad thing with how it messes up the progression by getting stuck in a ten-room purgatory.

At this point Im just about to restart my watcher playthrough because supposedly the order and spawning of portals is generated differently each time because I am. Struggling. Wandering around the map so so carefully over and over with my karma shield to see if that helps at all isnt working and I dont know what to do otherwise. I know I saw pink lines earlier but I completely ignored them since I thought they were visual glitches from me keeping my mods installed or something (even if theyre inactive right now) and I cant find whatever room they were in since I dont remember where I saw them at all.

If they could be more clear or even have a bigger indicator thatd be fantastic but as it is this dlc has just made me generally miserable. Even worse than my first ever playthrough of a campaign (monk, babey mode) which I spent like 180 something cycles on just having fun
