Most of this is regurgitated fan maps lazily connected with a portaling mechanic so they didn't have to worry about where the regions would be in relation to the base map. I can't believe they duped everybody into spending money on this. There's a dozen softlock bugs, no explanation as to how any of this relates to the base game in any capacity, and even being a dozen hours in there's zero reason to believe this has anything to do with the base game's story at all.

The slugcat isn't even remotely fun. It's just short Survivor. If you haven't bought it yet, steer clear of the Watcher DLC

Well as far as it being short survivor your wrong there. You must find an echo. I did get wrecked by silly bugs though and I understand your perspective. I could tell from the starting cut scene the vibe coming here. However like Battlebrothers there are many who appreciate more content and will still enjoy it. Maybe wouldv been better timed to launch with the first dlc.

I wouldnt say they duped anyone as its similar to the first dlc,

you know what i was waiting for all this time? to see how the new regions connect :)
i'm just gonna drop it off here see and see how the updates they said go

What fan maps did they regurgitate? I'm just curious. Are they on the workshop?

I already found an echo. I already got the mediocre 'invisibility' ability that still . It doesn't change that you platform and have the food pips of Survivor. Every other interaction is just survivor. Watcher has no meaningful movement abilities, no meaningful combat abilities, no meaningful utility abilities besides being able to ignore enemies and use the ham-fasted portal mechanic they included to not have to make their maps fit together.

stormy coast, aether ridge, coral caves
all of them are on workshop

It feels very disjointed like someone stitched together a bunch of workshop maps and I'm not even sure there's a narrative to tie it all together.
I'll kms if it ends up being some kind of metanarrative about how the real rain world was the workshop mods we made along the way

i think you shouldn't compare it with Downpour really, since original developers had no vision on it and it was clear fanservice thing that went really well tbh

you just see 6 reigions which were already made by fans out of 26 and you say its all fan made lol, ignoring the dozen of amazing new creatures and new scripts, music and shaders??
downpour was made by fans by its entierity, just saying, the 10 regions and every creature, as lame as they were anyways

you cannot judge it based on few hours of gameplay and already salty attitude
the world of rain world has always been very vague and shrouded in symbolism, strange occurances - both base game and downpour
we're gotten a portal mechanic, its something different but its pretty sick if you ask me
its very easy to cling onto region gates and th charm of transition rooms when it all just clicks with each other, but give it a chance - enjoy the entirely different enviroments and vibes
its actually amazing they chose a few maps from the workshop and worked them into the dlc - i would be overjoyed if something i made would make its way into an official dlc, you won't see anything like this around often

as far as watchers abbilites go, they can't always give you another artificer
watcher is a wild slugcat (or they've been introduced as one) - like survivor and monk (and likely gourmand), they're not a purposed messenger or literal explosive, they're a wild animal that got tangled up in some bussines of this echo weirdo
you cannot directly compare them to the downpour slugcats

I agree.
i think to some degree it would never be possible to satisfy every member of the community with extra content, so i think we should give atleast some lenience there. I've seen alot of people criticizing downpour for having too much "gameified" content with slugcat abilities and such and i think this is maybe an attempt at satisfying both crowds to that end.

The lore and writing may be weird (and definitely worthy of criticism, of course) but i think its not too worth getting annoyed about it. I dont even think many of us (if any of us) have actually finished the DLC yet so atleast personally ill give it a chance, and when adding more content onto an already finished game its always gonna be a little bit awkward trying to do MORE. I think theres a balance here worth critiquing, but at the very least they seemed to have made some attempt.

Also in relation to the bugs, this DLC came out like a couple hours ago. Give them some lenience there, they cant find EVERY bug before launching!
