the reason why you hate downpour
it's because you're thinking too much about it, not suspending your disbelief the same way you did with rain world, and forgetting that it was originally a bunch of mods, because if it stayed that way, you likely wouldn't criticize it as harshly and divisively as you do now. i get it, as an official product, it should be better and more in line with the original game's principles, whatever we think they are, but in reality, so much work would have to be done in order to achieve that. if downpour was more faithful, there would be simply too much to remove or remake.

another thing is how you bash downpour so much, but where's that contempt for rain world? if you treated rain world the same way you do with downpour, you'd have dozens of things to criticize. you might even find yourself conflicted, realizing that your vision isn't as aligned with the base game as you thought. i did this myself, and i honestly kind of regret it. if you start finding things to dislike and start to focus on them, stop. the last thing someone who enjoys something needs is disillusionment, whether that be you, even if you don't enjoy it, but many others do.

i am extremely sleep deprived, so this may or may not be hot garbage.

do you not know what the word "gonna" means?

yeah, for one thing you gotta elaborate a little here. i don't see many facts pointed out, just general statements. for another, it's a sign of passion for someone to point out mistakes. people who just don't care about something usually either ignore it or point out the obvious. what we have here, my dearest "sleep-deprived" friend, is downpour compared to vanilla: this is the same as comparing a cybernetically-enhanced apple to an apple. both have their merits and both have their flaws. you're right, if it had stayed as a bunch of mods then nobody would dislike downpour as harshly. that's because the game would probably not be anywhere near as popular as it is right now. there's plenty of contempt for the base game; take most critics and their opinions, for example. only someone who finds the game fun would want to buy downpour to play more.

in short, no disrespect, but i find this persuasive argument to be rather unappealing. perhaps you could elaborate a little, give me some specifics and there would be more to say in response.
just woke up. this is hot garbage

I do. But the conversation was going on too long and you made too many assumptions and it annoyed me.

wow aren't you a patient one
also there's a difference between an assumption and a prediction
i love downpour and i admire the huge effort the devs put into making it, but it will forever remain a mod in my eyes

I'm surprised to hear there are people who don't like downpour, it gives a bunch new content into the game and you get cool new slug cats to play as
