Fun?
Can someone explain how to enjoy this game? I am basically hate playing it at this point just to beat it so I can uninstall it forever.

I mean I love the aesthetics of the world and the minimalist lore... but the gameplay is like eating ass...

Are you still on a first playthrough, and haven't done much? If so, I'd recommend putting the game down.

Rainworld is a game where you play it, give up for a while, give it another go, give it up again, and THEN it clicks.

really just keep trying. death is an important part of the game, and the story/lore. if you really need to, look up a map. but try to not look at everything at once, due to the fact that the lore of rainworld is such that is very delicate, and should not be spoiled. if the creatures are the problem, try beating monk, the easy mode. it just reduces creatures, thats about all.
Its one of those games that requires a very tempered mindset. Try to play with the mindset of learning how the world functions first, since theres alot of somewhat niche facts about random things in the environment that can be really helpful. You can progress through multiple regions of the game in one cycle if you know the enviroment well enough.

This game is meant to be insanely unfair. It's the point of the game. It's possible to enjoy that, you just have to be open to it.
you gotta get in tune with your primal animal instincts. and learn all of the 600 different movement tech performances
there is no fun if the game is endlessly entertaining and always on your side. what is a mote of sediment to an infinite turbid sea? you need to look for the specks of gold suspended in the water. the little moments of satisfaction that you get from progression after many gruelling cycles of trial and error are what makes the game rewarding and fun
you're a small creature! you are a prey animal! don't get ahead of yourself and attempt to murder everything in your path. you have to get yourself used to the rain world mindset

Yea it is my first time through, and I was starting to get a hang of the systems, but I will say my biggest complaint of the game is the timelimit, which feels like I can never actually enjoy the scenery and the ambience. For most of the game I have been stressed and panicked about where to go and when I can save and therefore unable to enjoy the parts of the game I feel are good. Of course I understand its an intrinsic part of the game to have the timelimit, but it still feels BS at times, especially when combined with the random unavoidable deaths.

The straw that broke the camels back was getting stuck in Five Pebbels for hours, was just making me rage knowing I was so close to a major story part. Thankfully I finally got through, lets see how much further I get before I burst a blood vessel. The world building in the game is top tier.
Don't worry, right now you're still in "learning and trying to survive" panic mode. As you get your scug legs and your bearings you'll slowly exit that mode and then it'll be easier to estimate how long you have, how far away the closest shelter is, and how much time you have to smell the pines on the way. By that point, the Time limit won't feel like the omnipresent looming threat that it feels like right now.

And as was said, this game can be very mentally taxing. It's a trial of endurence as much as it is a trial of skills.

If you don't enjoy yourself at any point, do not force it. Take a rest, play something else, and when the urge hits, come back to it. It's better to take it slow than to burn yourself out.

Let me guess, you found the Unfortunate Development path, and didn't find the other path to get through 5P.

5P has 2 paths to get through him, Unfortunate Development is VERY easy to find, and rather short, but very hard to path through, and the other path is a lot easier, but a lot longer and is hidden. If you were to go back to the start, when you reach the room that looks like an L rotated 180 degrees and leads to UD, it isn't actually a rotated L, it's a box shaped room. If you go up, to the left, then look carefully, you can see pipes you can crawl through to reach another screen that leads to the rest of 5P.

While this won't help you now, it may help you on future runs.

Also, while the time limit feels terrible to you now, as you explore the regions and fill out the map, you can find the shelters and start opening up the "shelter chains" that exist. Because shelters are almost always within 7-9 rooms of the next shelter. When you are panic running around trying to find a shelter and haven't seen one in 15+ rooms, it means you made a wrong turn somewhere, and why I recommend just checking the entrance of every pipe even if you don't plan to commit to that path, just to see if it has an easily visible shelter.

Personally
- you can't treat it as hard platformer because environment is so unfair (when i compare to Celeste, a lot of stuff can easily go out of control)
- you can't treat it as exploration because everything try to kill you (when i compare to Metroid-vania that have a lot more down time)
- and you also can't treat it as survival because you get one-shot by most stuff

so the mind set i approach rain world is accept that it's very Rogue-ish with Platformer Survival style in Metroid-vania world so i can start enjoy (and endure) process of blind playtrough.

I poked around in that L room, cos I thought there had to be a way through but did not find it :( so eventually I just brute forced my way through UD... not my favourite part of the game for sure.

Good point, it is a unique game and has to be approached with a different mindset. It seems EXTREMELY brutal for people who do not want any spoilers as its very easy to get lost with the yellow dudes vague directions, and end up going the wrong way. I love exploration games, but man this one kicks you in the teeth and the nuts constantly.
if you want to make the time limit longer you can turn on rainworld remix and crank the rain timer multiplier thing to how much you want it to be

Unless competitive speedrunning is involved, the only cheating in a single player game is the things the player decides is cheating. If they need more time let them have more time.

Familiarity, knowledge and practice. And in the meantime not taking it too seriously. If you keep coming around to it at some point the things you used to suffer with become amusing. I think the first time I played it I put it down for a month afterwards, when I eventually beat it I put it down for a year or so. The process of rain world becoming a favorite of mine was really slow, and then eventually it became my most played of all time. I bet for a lot of people it's the same.

Aren't we all kinda hate playing it?

Now for real, I have seen a lot of people start the game for the first time and seen their journey.

9 out of 10 times people quit pretty quickly, usually in Outskirts or Industrial (or Drainage if they somehow make their way there).

Rain World doesn't have a very good new player experience. If anything I feel like it specifically pushes new players away. There is a certain amount of inherent masochism that a player needs to stick with Rain World long enough for it to "click".

For me it "clicked" around Chimney Canopy.

So basically, it is pretty normal not to enjoy the game. I say keep giving it a shot every now and then and don't be shy about getting quality of life mods like Omnithrow or Simplified Moveset. Or even just using Remix to give yourself some quality of life stuff like extending Rain Timer.

Like for instance, I suffer from pretty severe arachnophobia. If it wasn't for KeepThatAwayFromMe mod I would have never finished the game cause spiders in this game trigger my phobia and I legit freeze.
