Getting Past Inaccessible Dropwigs
To be clear on this, I'm not referring to spotting hidden dropwigs, or killing exposed ones. My issue is with dropwigs that set up in areas that are shielded on either side by terrain, and cover passages that have no alternative routes. Since dropwigs, without the interruption by another creature, remain in wait indefinitely, the only option I'm left with frequently is to attempt to fake-out the pounce as I run under one, and make a mad dash to the nearest pipe, which I usually don't survive.
As an example, I've left the game running as the Saint with a horizontally-shielded dropwig blocking my only way through the eastern side of the Undergrowth that hasn't moved for the 30 minutes I've spent typing this post.

This also happens to me with centipedes, white lizards, and occasionally other creatures in situations that upset their pathfinding, though those tend to move eventually if undisturbed, even if after minutes, unlike the dropwig. Is there any good way to manipulate or evade dropwigs in these scenarios? Also, is this a common experience for other players?

Sometimes you've gotta make the first move.

In many cases, I've tried, but if the terrain doesn't permit, I can't imagine there being any chance of evading a pursuing dropwig.

This is the example I mentioned:

In which, the nearest pipes are at least 1 full screen's width away from the dropwig in either direction with rugged terrain on the way. Similar scenarios may require climbing in order to escape.

I'm fine if the answer is certain death in these scenarios, but I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing out on any techniques that others use for dropwigs and other creatures that like to camp out above or below a narrow passage where I can't attack them.

Carry a rock and chuck it at them when they fall. As Saint, your agility is greatly than theirs - stick to the ceiling briefly as they leap and swing in the opposite direction. Repeat as needed until they give up.

In such a narrow vertical space, it's hard for me to grapple long enough to gain very much back-and-forth horizontal momentum in order to dodge with that method, but I think I can make that approach work. Though I thought dropwigs reset their chase "timer" or aggression or whatever when they attack, meaning they'd never give up during repeated attacks. I must be wrong about that then. I also didn't see any rocks or spears on my side of the gate I had just passed through.

In the end, with the Saint's tongue, I was able to barely keep out of the dropwig's grasp until I reached a pipe after setting it off and heading left, but I imagine it would be a different story in a different location or with a less mobile character. In hindsight I should've centered the thread around thwarting camping enemies in general, especially around pipes. I was mainly looking for ways to safely provoke camping creatures into moving without items, but it just may not be possible.

Thank you both for the responses.
