Is the new dlc by the original team?
I like downpour but it really feels like fan fiction and the abilities are all poorly balanced I'm hoping this new campaign is a true return to the base game's strengths of being more grounded.

Could we ban this guy already? I’m all for giving people the vindication they want when their definition of a win is being unable to keep interacting and harassing people. “You ban me I win” good get the ♥♥♥♥ out of here.
Just silently block him and let him make an idiot out of himself tbh. Idk if this place actually has proper mods that semi-regularly scour the forum but I can tell you for a fact that Valve's own mods are damn near useless nowadays, I think they only respond to mass-reported comments/threads

If you look through his past posts it looks like The Watchers announcement flipped some switch and he and some random dude from Peru just started spiraling about missiles until the Peru dude crossed a line that made him worry, probably about getting a ban, and asked to take their conversation off the forum and into his DMs. II Loch is right though there probably isn’t moderation so ignoring it’s all we got.

That has to be the dumbest reason to not like a dlc. "It looks like fan made, therefore > bad".
It adds a lot to the game, it's probably one of the best dlc you could buy for any game. Most dlcs can be very lackluster yet here you get 5 additional campaigns, additional regions and enemies, and a few more things such as local multiplayer integrated.
But no, "dlc has to be 100% made by the devs otherwise it's not good". Eh well, your loss I guess if you didn't like it. The watcher dlc seems to have fan made content so..

Thats not what I said at all, I said it feels like fan-fiction, because it is. The groundwork for msc was already laid before they were made official which is why its storylines don't align with the themes of the base game. Its new monsters are lazy and don't exhibit any new ai except the inspector and elite scavs which are arguably poor additions. The new items don't add much or at worst harm the believability of the ecosystem they've been placed in. A problem amplified by the overabundance of predators in some campaigns where you're forced to ask how an ecosystem with more hunters than prey can sustain itself, all in the name of making the game more difficult rather than more consistent. Gourmand's signature region is the same color as him so its often hard to see him, a completely ameteur mistake on the art team. The super powers and poor balancing of the new cast of slugs. And the additional of loading tips and tutorial messages defeat diagetic alien nature of the world you're exploring and conflicts with the philosophy the game's original team explicitly said multiple times was intended. Its a very multifaceted issue you see but I do need to reiterate that I did like Downpour something you seem to have ignored which tells me you read one sentence and immediately had to reply.

None of the DLCs are "by" the original team. In fact the base game, MSC (campaign pack of DLC1) and DLC2 are developed by different groups of people. AFAIK the developers of the original game do have their say in the DLC development, but both DLCs are created "by" modding community members.

And both DLCs were created/started as/are based on mods. Now they are mod/modbundles directly monetised and promoted by Akupara.

Its already been stated that the watcher is being developed by the original team and that the mod regions are a small part of the campaign and the only reason thats all theyre showing is because the new regions havent been made yet. Thank you for an entire post of incorrect information I have to correct.

Okay thank you for reminding me to double check, and indeed Videocult are a part of the DLC. Yet the current DLC crew is not the "OG" Videocult the way it was back in 2010s. Many modders got recruited for the development. I don't think there is a way to check whether each of the "modder" joined got full-time employed for the DLC and whether each VC employee spends all their worktime on the DLC too. But according to what can learned from the information that surfaced here and there, there were many modders to join the development. And the OG Videocult that created the base game was a really small studio.

So to put the things in words correctly, one must say "The original game creators are a part of the DLC crew".

Next time, if you can't resist the urge to drop a narcissic sarcasm, at least make sure you actually do it flawless.

This is good though, we want a larger dev team and more dlc. We already have the base game. It would be very sad if thats all there ever was wouldnt it? I understand the desire to have more of the original experience as I was slightly disappointed myself at the start of msc.

However having played through the new campaigns I really enjoy it and it would be sad if I never got to exp artificer or saint ect. They were all a lot of fun and we are richer for them being here in my view. That being said it doesnt mean you wont get another exp like the original rainworld but if msc mod didnt arrive then maybe we would have never seen anymore content at all.

steam discussions are truly one of the things of all time. videocult is part of this dlcs development unlike downpour (which is an AU, so non canon to the vanilla universe but canon to its own version), but modders are still the primary developers here atleast regionwise.

I like to think of downpour as the slugcats evolving and making new discoveries over a timeline. Especially with rivulet as they evolved to be better suited to the waters and to escape predators.

Like Artificer. Of all new Downpour slugcats this one felt straight felt like someone's moded power fantasy slugcat insert. I haven't got explanation of any kind where Artificer explosion abilitites even came from
The least ballanced and the least one that make sense. This include her campaign aswell. Very infuriating fighting scavengers, where it clearly show that they weren't designed or ballanced to fight against on regular basics even with Artif overpowered nonesense.

Turning Rain World into slasher figthing game Dark Souls like (except here you have 1hp, not able take a single hit) in Artificer campaign is example of something VideoCult SHOULD NOT do. This goes against essence and type of game Rain World is.

Me personally i liked artificer. The fact that they are able to get one shot by scavengers makes it more realistic saying that its a small soft creature being impaled by a spear. I think thats what makes artificer fun because when you manage to take downa whole kill squad you feel more achieved since you hadnt gotten hit once. Just my opinion.

I see a lot of people complain about Arti and I think its because they didn't learn about the shockwave because the game doesnt tell you about it. Parries are highly impractical because of how fast spears come out, but the ability to ragdoll any enemy at medium range with it is invaluable. it disarms scavs, lets you follow up with a maul or just lets you gtfo.

Same brotha. I was disapointed with Downpour because it adds 3 entirely new creatures and 1-2 new regions for each Slugcat. I sometimes just play Survivor because it feels less bloated that way.
"I was disappointed" (My thoughts: ok, they're disappointed about it)
"3 entirely new creatures and 1-2 new regions" (My thoughts: ok, their disappointed because there's not that much new content)
"I sometimes just play Survivor because it feels less BLOATED that way" (My thoughts: Wait what? Are you disappointed because 3 entirely new creatures is too much for you?)
