It adds a lot to the game, it's probably one of the best dlc you could buy for any game. Most dlcs can be very lackluster yet here you get 5 additional campaigns, additional regions and enemies, and a few more things such as local multiplayer integrated.
But no, "dlc has to be 100% made by the devs otherwise it's not good". Eh well, your loss I guess if you didn't like it. The watcher dlc seems to have fan made content so..
Thats not what I said at all, I said it feels like fan-fiction, because it is. The groundwork for msc was already laid before they were made official which is why its storylines don't align with the themes of the base game. Its new monsters are lazy and don't exhibit any new ai except the inspector and elite scavs which are arguably poor additions. The new items don't add much or at worst harm the believability of the ecosystem they've been placed in. A problem amplified by the overabundance of predators in some campaigns where you're forced to ask how an ecosystem with more hunters than prey can sustain itself, all in the name of making the game more difficult rather than more consistent. Gourmand's signature region is the same color as him so its often hard to see him, a completely ameteur mistake on the art team. The super powers and poor balancing of the new cast of slugs. And the additional of loading tips and tutorial messages defeat diagetic alien nature of the world you're exploring and conflicts with the philosophy the game's original team explicitly said multiple times was intended. Its a very multifaceted issue you see but I do need to reiterate that I did like Downpour something you seem to have ignored which tells me you read one sentence and immediately had to reply.
And both DLCs were created/started as/are based on mods. Now they are mod/modbundles directly monetised and promoted by Akupara.
Its already been stated that the watcher is being developed by the original team and that the mod regions are a small part of the campaign and the only reason thats all theyre showing is because the new regions havent been made yet. Thank you for an entire post of incorrect information I have to correct.
Okay thank you for reminding me to double check, and indeed Videocult are a part of the DLC. Yet the current DLC crew is not the "OG" Videocult the way it was back in 2010s. Many modders got recruited for the development. I don't think there is a way to check whether each of the "modder" joined got full-time employed for the DLC and whether each VC employee spends all their worktime on the DLC too. But according to what can learned from the information that surfaced here and there, there were many modders to join the development. And the OG Videocult that created the base game was a really small studio.
So to put the things in words correctly, one must say "The original game creators are a part of the DLC crew".
Next time, if you can't resist the urge to drop a narcissic sarcasm, at least make sure you actually do it flawless.
However having played through the new campaigns I really enjoy it and it would be sad if I never got to exp artificer or saint ect. They were all a lot of fun and we are richer for them being here in my view. That being said it doesnt mean you wont get another exp like the original rainworld but if msc mod didnt arrive then maybe we would have never seen anymore content at all.
Me personally i liked artificer. The fact that they are able to get one shot by scavengers makes it more realistic saying that its a small soft creature being impaled by a spear. I think thats what makes artificer fun because when you manage to take downa whole kill squad you feel more achieved since you hadnt gotten hit once. Just my opinion.
"3 entirely new creatures and 1-2 new regions" (My thoughts: ok, their disappointed because there's not that much new content)
"I sometimes just play Survivor because it feels less BLOATED that way" (My thoughts: Wait what? Are you disappointed because 3 entirely new creatures is too much for you?)
