wdym it becomes quite consistent after practice. like 80% of the time i can get a mouthspear on a red liz compared to before

dash? what are you doing? slidespear? crouchspears are the same but safer and if you miss agains any lizard which isnt a red, you can pick the spear again and try as much as you want.
Crouchspearing is the strongest and most consistent strat in the game

Crouchspearing is the strongest and most consistent strat in the game

I read some guide and short demonstration that you can just dash in lizard's mouth to bypass their guard and hitting them right inside their mouths. But with Red Lizard their bite is instant and hitbox of bite is also don't match their sprite
Crouch spear throw works very badly and in my experience more than half of the time bounce off from lizards mouths.

The best and consistent method is throw rock to force lizard to flip and throw spear. But Red Lizards are immune to knockback And throwing spear in their mouth if you get lucky isn't enough to stop them. And yeah forget even thinking taking spear out of their mouth, instant bite death will come to you.

red lizards are stunned for longer than other lizards when mouthspeared, this makes it a easy and intended way to dispatch them on flat ground, its just practicing a lot in arena since as you mentioned the red lizards hitbox is different from other lizards.

personally i can get it quite easily with slide spear throw (crouch spear throw is harder to time because of the red lizard's speed), chain that with another mouthspear, then stun lock them to death if i have multiple spears, otherwise its continous mouthspears. although you still do need to keep in mind that red lizards turn really fast to bite you.

my bad. in that case mouthspear from farther away. the hitbox does seem janky but there is a certain distance of when you can do it.
