Daddy Longlegs clarification

Hello,

I decided to do Spearmaster's expedition mission recently, and after an easy Red Lizard kill and a straightforward if unlucky Miros Vulture kill, I'm onto the Daddy Longlegs objective.
My first question is how exactly do you tell which one of the varieties is which? I tried using the interactive map to locate some and settled on the Garbage Wastes as the hunting ground, because of multiple instances and lots of Scavengers and thus explosives around. But when I started exploring, I would find a brown one (brother? I am colorblind so I can only reliably identify which ones are blue) in a place where there was supposed to be a blue one, and vice versa. So to put it as simple as possible: is a blue one of the smaller variety always a Daddy (and the interactive map has inaccuracies), or can the colors and sizes vary?
On a less important note, my strategy is to always trade scavs to keep up relations, and then kill one that has at least 2 explosive spears to get them, locate a DLL and pray that it flashes me its core. Is there an easier trick I might be missing?

Blue ones (daddys) are fairly large compared to the brown ones (brothers), so that should help you figure out which is which! You can rely on size.
You can also jump around and see if it detects you moving, if it does then it is a daddy and not a brother.
