Reccomend mods for a first playthrough?
Got to five pebbles, but it was a pretty lame experience just to get to a guy to grab a thing to bring back to another guy. Didn't help that it was annoying to get out, so I started a new game instead.

So I ask to you, the community, what mods would be best for enhancing the gameplay experience? I already have the essentials such as faster gates, fast travel, unlimited spears/item duplication, worm grass immunity, and enhanced spear aim.

What else should I get?

The mods you have are already the kind that make the game far too easy and make it difficult to actually get better so as far as i can see you already went too far. I get faster gates, but fast travel? Seriously?? Item duplication? These arent "essentials" in the slightest. What are you trying to do, play minecraft creative mode?
No saving this, just go do what you want. You already basically dismantled the experience.
On my first playthrough i only used bugfix mods and a few region mods to have more to explore.

Don't really have time to "get better". I have backlog of other games I would rather play, but my friends kept insisting that I NEED to play this game for whatever reason.

I don't really see the appeal. The most egregious mechanic is the gates that have an arbitrary karma requirement. Sure, it's easy to grind out a couple cycles, but it's boring as hell and a waste of time.

Sounds like the game just isn't for you. It takes patience.

Well it's too late to refund so I got to make the best with what I got.

Most of the mods that you currently have on do make the game much easier, and take a decent portion of the fun out of the game (imo). However, I'd say a few good mods for a first run would be Simplified Move-set (changes movement, and adds a few things that are disabled by default), Faster Gates (which you have), and maybe the Keep That Away From Me! mod (lets you disable specific creatures/items).

I can't think of many other mods, as I think the game is best experienced without mods/mods that don't change too many things first.

If you don't want the karma requirements there's a setting in the remix config that lets you turn it off.

none at all, except mods which fix things the publisher messed up or was oversighted
Yeekfix, triggerfix, dropwig's return....

honestly if your friends preassure you to buy a game isnt for you, you should just know when you dont really like a game and tell them no

God I'm so glad I turned off worm grass, those reindeer take decades to cross.

Worst area tbh. It's not a very fun gimmick to play by, pretty sure if you get unlucky you can still get killed while on the reindeers by a vulture or stray lizard in certain areas

No mods except ones that fix things. You can always add them as you go, unless it's a region mod. (which I would wait until you complete the game for anyways).
Slight changes would be things like playlist, where it always has music going, or the yippee mod just to bring a little bit of joy into this hellish but lovely game.

I understand mods like faster gates, but I think a lot of those mods take away the fun of the learning process! The whole point is to feel like you're immersed in the game, and like you're actually threatened, like something at the bottom of the food chain. With all of the mods you've installed it kind of takes all of that away, which is probably why it didn't seem very exciting for you. I recommend mods for stuff like bug fixes, or after you finish the campaigns to try out custom slug cats! I'd even recommend Dress my slugcat, it's really fun to make or use sprites and run around as your own personality. I hope this helped!

The only threat in this game is RNG. Sometimes dudes just don't move, forcing me to backtrack to a shelter and waste my time so they stop blocking a door.

Unmodded, I never felt like I was being hunted. Just arbitrarily gated until the game let me go.
