How do i activate mods??

Nothing helps ive searched youtube, google and reddit but nothing works. a recently made tutorial makes it seem so easy but i feel like im missing something cause it always says i need to activate a mod before configuring or whatever.

click the X next to the mod and it should turn to a tick and then you click apply mods

Find a mod you like in the workshop press subscribe and it will download it to your game. Find the button in the main menu that says remix. And then!
