game freezes while continuing to play in the backround

I have a bunch of mods but im not sure if thats the reason for this or if its a specific mod, i have already tried removing a couple mods and i really dont want to remove anymore so if anyone knows if this is tied to a specific mod or if its some other issue please let me know:

I play the game like normal and sometimes it just randomly freezes on a frame, but it sort of keeps going in the backround while its visually frozen on the last frame, sometimes it unfreezes 10 - 20 seconds later, sometimes it doesnt at all...

This ussually happens when a spear is thrown, wheter by me or a scav, and im not sure if it only happens if it is about to hit something or if it happens just because of the throw itsefl...

Also i have a windows 11 laptop

edit: also just found out it can happen when a scav throws a rock

Try verifying your game files if this happens a lot. Scavs do rarely cause crashes,.

edit: ok i did it and it found one file that couldnt be found so it made it again, hope that fixes it

For some reason verifying the game files fixes 60% of problems so its always recommended to try when there are issues

ok i did it, had to disable and re-enable all my mods so im gonna try and play it again now, lets see if it sill happens...

it didnt work its gotta be one of the mods... you have any idea if any mods can do something like this

Maybe some of your mods have issues with compatibility, there are also some mods that are really infamous for breaking (such as darkness). So yes it is probably a mod. Crashes are very rare without mods.

its not exactly a crash, it just freezes the game visually while it continues to simulate in the backround, sometimes it freezes for 3 seconds, sometimes for 20, and sometimes forever

You will probably need to disable one mod at a time until the freezing stops to discover which mod is causing the issue for you.

Or maybe temporarily disable your mods that aren't just cosmetic to see if it really is a mod breaking. Mods that involve slugpups also often cause freezes and crashes.

I have the same problem. It mostly happens when my friend does stuff in Jolly-Co-op With the splitscreen mod.

I have the same problem but the weird thing is that all of the mods worked fine the previous days so I am wondering if I should change it to the mod support beta to see if it fixes it

Never mind, I found out how, but it didn't work
