When ever I go through a gate the frame freezes and it takes like 10 seconds for my frames to recover. One time it crashed my game, does anyone have an explanation/fix for my problem? All answers cherished.

Are you using mods at all? I know my game does that too a lot, but only ever when i go through a gate for the first time. My assumption was that the camera scrolling mod was taking a minute to stitch together all the screens to make the camera pan smoothly. Obviously this may be incorrect, but at least worth making note of.

Is it good at loading things? It's loading a whole entire huge new area and all it's spawns and positions for example my pc is good(ish) at physics and loading things in but oftentimes still freezes for a few seconds at a Gate but I am also using some mods which slow it down a bit. It isn't really a graphically intensive game (even though it is beautiful it doesn't really lag that much except for some Five Pebbles rooms and there my pc dropped to 15 fps) and my pc pretty is much the equivalent of potato and it usually runs it at around 60 to 70 fps so probably the main source of lag is the complex AI and procedural animation and loading in all of that!

- Deinstall mods
- Make sure the game is installed on a SSD
- Make sure your SSD is never above 90% filled in general
- Check any background processes that may be inteferring (e.g. OneDrive can be surprisingly resource demanding. Other stuff too.)

Also, post your specs. "Beefy" is kind of vague.

Back then I played the game on a relatively old system, but it was a very smooth experience. I cant recall 10 second long freezes. Region loading can show lag spikes, but these shouldnt be severe at all.

The camera scroll mod usually causes very heavy lag whenever you enter a new region for the first time after it is installed. If you have this mod installed, try disabling it and testing.

the camera scroll mod does this the first time you enter a new region, but subsequent visits dont give as much lag

I can confirm that the camera scroll mod causes heavy lag when first entering a region,
but there's an option in its settings to adjust that.
IMO the alternative is worse, cause it could mean more lag in more rooms, even if shorter.

Mods cause lag. Should only have lag on beefy computers if they are 1 loading a region 2 the world is filled with centipedes. Centipedes are super lag inducing due to their movement.
EDIT: Also, what are your specs?
