Do inspectors pet slugcats?
I noticed during my Artificer playthrough that if i sat still when close to an inspector it would move its arms towards you. Is this an actual thing they do or was it just coincidence? Arty also closed her eyes when they did this.

I'm not sure if they specifically pet you but the inspectors do seem to be a bit curious of the slugcat from my experience
RCMidas 24 ABR 2023 a las 18:17
It's certainly canon that iterators will pet slugcats.

oh hello what are you? What is this thing flying around all over? Oh n:slugcatdead:! Can confirm they do not like me

slugcats close their eyes even when a centipede is slithering over them
its just a coincidence

They are curious. They're inspecting you. They also like the slugcat and pull them away from sources of danger, like electricity. So maybe they can pet you too, I dunno. They're pretty cute

They will inspect the slugcat when in there general vicinity and try to "smother" them as to make sure that, were you to throw whatever you carry it wouldn't hit a neuron.

Wait then why did it kill me? Are the red ones different from blue ones?

Yes and no, blue inspectors and red inspectors are the same, the difference is that inspectors are normally blue, and they turn red if they become angry. Red inspectors try to kill whatever made them angry, i think eating neuron flies makes them angry but i am not sure.

Oh... that's why they attacked me it's because I had a feast! Thanks for letting be know!

Not petting per say, but they do 'inspect' you. I call it sniffing, since they tend to use the main head.
Iterators however, do pet you.

Inspector will blink as a warning if you grab a neuron within their line of sight, and become angry if you eat it, still within LOS. You can eat neurons as long as it doesn't see you. They'll also get mad if you attack them, either with rubbish or spears.

There also is a red variant of the inspector, so they can be naturally red. If I recall, the natural color depends on the iterator you find them in (Blue for LTTM, and red for 5P but I can be wrong, so don't quote me on that). Most people just don't go far enough into 5P's inard to find them.

Inspectors seem to match overseer/iterator text colors. In 5P and Metropolis they are blue, and in (pre-collapse) LttM they are yellow. In Arena/Challenge mode they can be blue, yellow, green, or orange-red. The green and orange-red ones are probably just easter eggs and would likely belong to NSH and SRS respectively.

I remember reading that Inspectors were created using the same code as DLLs, so that's why slugcats close their eyes when they get close to the main body. I think I read this on the Rain World Wiki.

Thanks for the clarification. I went over their page on the wiki as I didn't interact with them enough to actually care that much, have a nice day
