The regions are expanded, there's more collectables and unlocks, more variety of creatures and decorations.
But the base game is still great, I enjoyed it very much back when it came out.
I prefer to support Indy games anyway, and this one got so much praise from people I know (and so much hate from reviewers.lol.), I am pretty confident it is worth it.
It requires attention and thinking, and more often than not - avoiding danger altogether, rather than pushing forward.
Some of the rants were damn funny tho (bUt I bEaT hOlLoW kNiGhT dLc BoSsEs *mimimi*)
Well, you could think of it as sort of metroidvania, but instead of unlocking abilities, you yourself get better at movement and decision making, and learning about the world and creatures (I nearly sh*t my pants and jumped out my seat the first time I encountered a dropwig). That helps you progress.
Some movement techs are pretty precise. So much so that I had to install a mod to simplify inputs for slide+pounce, because my controller's D-pad got worn out over the years and I was struggling to make slide+pounce as compared to way back when the game first released. (Thanks, Nintendo, for pretty sh*tty d-pad on switch controller)
