Fix for saves not probably transferring correctly in update

Hey everyone. We have released a patch that should fix if your saves didn't transfer correctly. You'll need to do a couple steps to have the game port the save again.

1. Get update installed
2. Disable Cloud Save through game Properties in Steam
3. Wipe out contents of "%APPDATA%/../LocalLow/Videocult/Rain World" folder
4. Run the game
5. Verify save files are good now
6. Turn Cloud Save back on

Trying to wake up after sleep makes game show artifacts and went frozen. After restarting and loading shows white screen and frozen. Disabling Cloud Save for game and wiping content of "%APPDATA%/../LocalLow/Videocult/Rain World" folder doesn't help, it only gives you load old save file and then same bug repeat.

If you are making a fresh install of Rainworld and only have your old sav file, make sure to create a new UserData folder and put the sav file in there so that the port works!

I managed to recover all my progress EXCEPT for the map exploration.. am I alone in this? Did I do something wrong?

When I start the game after deleting the contents of the videocult folder, I just get a black screen. And then when I Alt+F4 and restart the game, it successfully starts, but does not have the old save.

When I go back to 1.51, my old existing save still works. So at least its not gone "for good."

Sadly this didnt work for me either. The game started up perfectly fine, however, but no change occurred on my end otherwise.

Does not work for me. Going back to legacy 1.51 through beta mode shows that the saves still exist, though.

When I follow these instructions (have repeated twice now), the game fails to launch once with a hanging black screen. Then on all subsequent launches, the game works, but the save is gone.

I have the same issue. My game will no longer save any map exploration or recover the exploration that I already had. Any suggestions to fix this?

most things are fine (probably) but i've lost my map. outskirts and drainage (only regions i've been to) are empty when i press "m" after the update. is there any way to fix that or is it intended? (solution above does not work).

Having the same issue as some of the other comments - doing these steps does not seem to resolve the issue and my save is still gone (I can see it by rolling back to the previous version though). Any workaround?
