Some areas are also not affected by cold.
Do the blizzards subside eventually? Or do they just get worse/stay bad? Also, how do I know what areas are safe from the cold and which aren't? Do staying in them increase body temperature again, or does it just stay the same?
yea they get worse and worse until you hibernate, outdoors are much colder than indoors but you will still lose warmth very slowly indoors without a source of heat. i just carried a lantern in my hand 24/7 and i didnt struggle much with the cold. Also noteworthy that scav lanterns give you heat when you are near them, so it includes the ones on poles scattered throughout the world. You can see your temp by holding or pressing the map, its the new dots under your food, plus the saint loses their color as they freeze
The snow mechanic actually allows you to extend your cycle much longer than otherwise and in some places even indefinitely (you can tell by the lack of heat bar)
The cycle only gets colder over time and eventually you'll die in just a few seconds even while inside and with multiple lanterns.
All in all the worst two campaigns. Which is sad because lore wise they're the coolest.
Maybe try some of the cheats out, didn't check out what they do. But they may help you.
Yeah I've been carrying a lantern now and it seems much easier, it basically seems essential for surviving the cold, since you can warm yourself up with it when somewhere indoors. I also feel like the earlier stages are still very difficult, with food being really scarce, but once you get closer to the east it seems much easier since there is more food options that aren't meat. Making progress now at least which is nice, whereas previously I was basically trapped in both Sky Islands and Chimney Canopy, hitting a brick wall because of the high karma gate requirements.
None of the Remix features or MSC accesibility options pertain to the issues Im talking about I've already checked. Gonna have to wait for mods to fix them lmao
any hands that aren't carrying lanterns should be carrying food over a cycle. food may be scarce but you don't need many pips, carrying two pips of food over means much less mad dashing around to get enough for hibernation
saint benefits from a deep understanding of the game, from movement tech to understanding how creatures detect and react to you. some wiki diving can help a lot of any particular enemy is giving you trouble.
and no, you unfortunately can't use passages.
saint's campaign starts out brutal and becomes one of the most fun by the end. the discord is a good place to seek help for specific situations as it's not hard to get stuck during his campaign. worst case scenario, if you're just not having a good time there are youtube playthroughs by now for the lore.
