Otherwise, seems like you just have to grind it.
stage 5 is not awful, but because those zappy bubbles stick around after it becomes possible to ascend SOS dying at that point generates large quantities of rage.
stage 6 is not too bad either, but just like stage 5 the bubbles stick around and kill you when you can ascend SOS (This is where I died by the way, haven't got that close since).
THE TRUE PAIN is that 4 is RNG ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and makes me spend 10 runs just trying to get to 5 and then because I have been spending my time and effort trying to pass 4 I completely lose all my muscle memory for 5.
I completely agree that this is not in the spirit of Rain World, IMO if they had made the level of challenge for 4,5,6 similar to 1,2,3 then i'd defend this boss fight for being a pretty neat and challenging task, but in its current state it's rather insulting.
Not to mention that there are a total of *drum-roll* 2 rooms in saints campaign that use zero G and these are both right at the end of the campaign, with no hazards or enemies. so. you get almost no practice with this combination of gimmicks before this fight.
Thanks Downpour for all the cool content, but my one rolling criticism so far would be that sometimes adding more leap lizards to underhang or making a out of pocket hard bullet hell boss-fight does not make the game more challenging, it just makes it harder.
TL;DR : Challenge 70 does not challenge your knowledge of Rain World mechanics, and disregards what makes Rain World unique and interesting, it is just an unreasonably hard boss-fight.
I cheated it just so I could go back to expeditions, cheating almost killed my motivation to ever boot up the game again and it took me two days to finally start an expedition but in retrospect it was exactly what I needed.
I'll probably try to do it legit later without the feeling that it's getting in the way of the content I like but for now I'm perfectly happy with playing the part of the game that I've been enjoying since release and that Downpour perfected.
It's a shame that this is even something I'm considering, since i absolutely love this game, but I get the feeling that your decision is probably the best for maintaining sanity.
The final phase is, interestingly enough, nothing to write home about by comparison. Got through that one on my first try. It was just getting there that was the real problem.
of course, No-one would ever do that.
