That's... really strange. It makes me wonder why they would go to the trouble to code such an obscure situation, but not give you the ability to just aim up normally. I know that you can embed spears in the ceiling by throwing them straight up (it's on the wiki), but if this is the only way to actually do that, that's hardly a useful ability. Why is that even in the game at all?
Also biologically shoulders are designed to throw objects mainly horizontally, throwing a piece of rebar completely upwards with enough force to cause damage doesnt make any sense.
It would be like saying in the binding of isaac you should be able to shoot in 360º because makes sense.
they didnt... thats just how it happens to work in that situation.
