Typo, i fixed it after 3 minutes, i;ve watched people actually get guided by the overseer in their own gameplay, but i'm not sure why mine doesn't. My overseer only points to shelter so I don't know where im supposed to go most of the time.
If you don't mind me telling you which general direction to go in Industrial Complex, it's right, neither too much up nor down (actually some people advocate that down works better, especially for first time players, but I wouldn't recommend going that way) . Alternatively, going to the shelter as Iggy instructs will cause things to happen after which Iggy will start guiding you in a direction again if I recall correctly. I think it's to not rush players out of the first few areas too quickly as they become accustomed to the game, unless they do so of their own volition of course. If you want guidance other than the small I gave you, I suggest listening to Iggy even though it doesn't net you any progress for a few cycles,

The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Oh alright, im gonna wait for a few cycles, then probably try to escape out of there. I got a vulture mask should help me escape from the lizard population or hunt them.

The mask can help, but it has many flaws. Understand that you're most likely always moving a certain direction, and that when a lizard sees you it will move away from you, which is most likely the direction you're moving. Also know that the mask only works for a certain amount of time, so if the lizards are fleeing into your path the time can run out and the lizards can turn agressive again. The time is also different for types of lizard.

It does mean, however, that they will turn their back to you and thus expose their vulnerable side to your spears. Kill a few lizards in this way and the entire population will start to fear you in general.

Note that green lizards barely care about vulture masks, only halting briefly to contemplate their chances, unless the mask belonged to a king vulture. Black lizards, being blind, don't even notice you have a mask; and red lizards are probably offended that you would even try to scare them in such a way.

you are very right about this, i've killed like 3-4 lizards, usually the weaker ones like blues and pinks with this method, as they go to run its quite easy to impale them with a spear
